Notre Dame (football only discussion)

Excellent decision by Gunner. I wouldn't be surprised to see him win a couple of Heismans and a national championship (or two).

His uncle Blair, another great Notre Dame quarterback, must be proud.

I knew that last name sounded familiar. I have an autographed pic of Blair Kiel as a member of the Packers. Prolly worth $0.01

Why doesn't ND try to schedule Ohio State as a yearly opponent? Afraid of continuing their losing streak?

What ND will tell you is they already have 3 "traditional" rivals in the B1G - Sparty, Purdue, and TSUN.

To be fair, the story I was told is Woody didn't want to schedule ND, either. His reasoning had to do with not making Catholics have to choose between the Buckeyes and the Irish. To me, that's a reason TO schedule them - to separate the Buckeyes from the closet domers.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here... They are still ND.

I would LOVE to crush them every year.

Our Lady shall prevail, once more, and they won't have to cheat to do it like they did at USC. Gunner will lead the charge to a national title like Terry Hanratty in 1966.

He's going to get knocked out of a game against Sparty and have his coach play for a tie?

Ironically, here's a comment from CFN, looking back at the 1966 10-10 tie between ND and Sparty:

If a tie is like kissing your sister, this chick looked like Beano Cook.

That was smart football. If Osborne had played for a tie against Miami he would've won the title in '83, likely preventing Joe Pa from getting screwed in '94 when the voters felt sorry for Osborne and awarded it to his inferior squad.

If a tie is like kissing your sister, this chick looked like Beano Cook.

That chick may have been ugly, but she got laid in 1966.

Wow! Why would anyone not want to play for this?
