Well I was hoping Landry and or Willis would be here when it was my time to pick, but I was mistaken.

The Panters have needs at safety and linebacker, and the next safety on the board is Florida Safety Reggie Nelson.

So with the 14th overall pick the Carolina Panthers select Reggie Nelson.

I stand corrected, I had heard that he didnt have a good combine...

Either way I do think that Meachum is the better of the guys that were on the board and think that it was a little bit of a reach...

If they needed a receiver, then he was a decent pick. Bowe ran a 4.51
at the combine.

Honestly, with CJ and Teddy off the board -- I don't think you can go wrong with Meachem, Jarrett, or Bowe. I'd say Gonzo too -- but that might be my scarlet shades speaking. It probably was a bit of a reach, but the idea of adding a vertical threat to San Fran is scary (and yes, I know that doesn't fit perfectly with the West Coast)

With Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila under contract for 3 more years, having signed Aaron Kampman to a long-term extension last off-season, and recently signing Cullen Jenkins to a four year deal, picking Jamaal Anderson, as talented as he is and as surprised as I am that he is still available, does not make sense.

Ahman Green has just turned 30 and has over 1800 carries on his aging body. At this point, Green Bay still has not been able to re-sign him for the 2007 season, so finding a backup for this season and a replacement for future seasons is key one.

With the 16th pick, the Green Bay Packers select Marshawn Lynch, RB, California.

Doubling up on LEs after re-signing Aaron Smith to a 4-year extension?

Why can't Carriker start on the other side? The Steelers desparately need a pass rusher. He fits that whether the Steelers play a 3-4 or 4-3. Carriker is big enough to play in the 3-4 and agile enough to play in the 4-3. If the Steelers go to more of a 3-4/4-3 hybrid then he could play the OLB position. Look at DeMarcus Ware for the Cowboys, he is an OLB.

FWIW Demarcus Ware is very different that Carriker.

Carriker is a lot heavier and slower. He ran in the 4.8s at the combine.
