Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

I couldn't agree more. Hall is the most overrated player in this years draft, he's a 3rd round pick at best in my opinion. I have a cousin who's an NFL scout and he says that Hall is a weakside NFL corner, he'll never be a shut down type guy.

Hell I was thinking he'll be a nickelback his entire career....

why do you guys criticize for phil for taking a WR #3 (braylon) then turn around and demand for him to trade braylon and take a WR #3 again.
1. I've stated that if we draft a WR (in response to a few mentioning Ted Ginn), that I'm done following the Browns until they make a serious effort to improve.
2. Braylon had documented attitude problems and a case of the dropsies in college. Johnson does not.

CJ is a taller more athletic receiver, without the attitude problem and doesn't drop the ball. Maybe that is why people would want CJ. Plus he could easily have the most potential out of anyone in this entire draft. Not suggesting that the Browns taking him just a thought especially if you can get some line help for braylon.

1. a case of the dropsies in college.

His hands weren't a problem for him in the past.

Hands
0.5
His hands are one of his best assets. He rarely will body catch, taking full advantage of his large, soft hands. He may have the best hands of any 2005 draft eligible receiver.

2. Braylon had documented attitude problems
Can learn football with no problems, but the coaching staff has been frustrated in the past by his mental lapses on the field, at times. He appears capable of handling the mental aspect of the game & he says football is important to him, but one has to wonder if he will make that extra effort needed to be a blue chip talent.

His attitude has gotten better since he was placed in coach Lloyd Carr?s doghouse early in the 2003 season for team rules violations (late for practices and class work). He has a very cocky nature that most top-level receivers seem to have, but lacks maturity. Prior to the 2004 Rose Bowl, he leaked to the press that he was seriously considering entering the 2004 draft as an underclassman. Told that it was not the appropriate time to voice such an opinion, Braylon replied, ?I like to keep controversy going. Controversy is good.?? This is a player that still needs some guidance.
He is a good worker, but seems to only do what is asked. He had serious issues with the Michigan coaching staff due to his constant tardiness arriving for practices. He has superb athletic talent, but while he can back up his mouth on the field, he needs to get with the program & show a ?team-first? attitude (to his credit, he was more focused in 2004 preseason drills than ever before).

He still has a lot of growing up to do off the field & his penchant for being tardy for practices will no longer be tolerated. His talent level is superior to most receivers in college, but he needs to prove in 2004 that he has matured off the field & is ready to not only take his game to the next level, but to be a model of consistency throughout the season. If not, he ways will be nothing more than a David Terrell clone. If he improves on last year, he could vie for honors of being the first receiver drafted in 2005, but it is buyer beware, until he shows that he?s grown up.
Can't argue there!

4th down OSU 2004 ring a bell?

Edwards has good hands... most of the time. He was known in the UM fanbase for making unbelievable catches, but dropping easy ones. It's something of a UM WR tradition with Manningham & Terrell also fitting that mold (tho Terrell didn't discriminate on the difficulty of pass).

Problem is, two years later and this has not changed. Switch the years and it's pretty much a scouting report for Braylon v2006.

JWins covered the drops too. I remember watching many scUM games in '03 & '04 where he would make spectacular catches and then drop an easy one on third down.

He has all the talent in the world, but right now he appears to be a headcase...exactly what you don't want on a team that is trying to change a culture of losing.

I give him credit for working hard to get back from the injury, but he needs to grow up and stop dropping passes.

DB sorry. I agree with your saying also. BUT I see Landry being a big run stopper like Bob Sanders or a Troy Pal. Somebody that would put the fear in the eyes of a WR to go across the middle. Im just saying if you dropped to the 8 or 9th but the only team I see trading up is Minnesota early. The only other teams I see trading up is at the bottom of the 1st round.

Safety is probably one of our best positions, no need to get Landry.
Hall is one of the most over-rated CBs in this draft. He is slow, and he is just not that good. If you watched on the 18th and the 1st, you'd see 29 was made a fool more than once.
Honestly, this doesn't seem like a great year for secondary. Last year was loaded. We should just go after Nate in FA and/or a couple kids on day 2 if we want a CB.

Underrated

I don't think Leon Hall is overrated at all. I think he belongs at the bottom of the first round. Landry I don't think he should. I watched him alot and he'd make a great safety.
I'd like to hear peoples take on what I said about Adrian P. Basically what I said is that he couldn't stay health in college and I don't think he can stay health in NFL. Plus, the Browns would have to go to a zone blocking. I think to take advantage of his cut back and to get to outside ability. I just think if the Browns get the 3th pick and Thomas is gone it's almost impossible to pass on Calvin. He has what Marvin Harrison has. Sure hands and he lets his on the field performance to do the talking, not his mouth. I just think the offense needs the most work. To keep the clock running and the D off the field. then maybe they won't have all those injuries on D, because ya know when DBz are getting hurt there tackling to often and not the LB.

He's projected as an early first rounder, many even have him top-10. So if your opinion is correct, then he is overrated.

He does have an admirable helping of humility, but they aren't very similar WRs.

It's been mentioned more than once by more than one person. The people who like Adrian, like him regardless. I'm skeptical... but Thomas also had a knee operation and didn't thrill most of us against Arkansas.
CJ would be a great pickup, but only if we traded Braylon for some OL/DL help. We don't need another WR right now.

Cleveland has a good secondary, if healthy. They need line help and RB help. However, you don't pass up a guy like Calvin Johnson if he's available. Just like you don't pass up a Reggie Bush, just because you already have Deuce McAllister. Johnson is a special player, and if he's there, you take him. Regardless of "need".

I'll bet you a C-Note that if Johnson is on the board when the browns pick, they do not take him.
