Ohio State will “definitely be a top school on my list” after the 2025 safety from Shaker Heights, Ohio visited in recent days and landed an offer from coach Ryan Day. The message from the Buckeyes is that usually offers don’t come this early but that Ohio State isn’t just going to watch other schools recruit and offer McNutt without joining in as well. The visit to Columbus definitely left a major impact as Ohio State could now be the early leader with Notre Dame, Pitt, Wisconsin and Penn State up top.

MCNUTT SAID IT WAS "REALLY COOL" GETTING AN OFFER FROM OHIO STATE, 4-STAR 2024 OT BRANDON BAKER LOCKS IN OFFICIAL VISIT TO OSU

“It was surprising actually,” McNutt said of his offer. “We were sitting in the office talking, and I didn’t think he’d offer me yet. It was exciting for both my Mom and me. He said we’re not going to sit here and let all these other schools recruit you. After that he extended me the offer.”

McNutt has plenty of family ties to OSU. He’s the son of former OSU cornerback Richard McNutt, and the nephew of former Buckeye safety Mike Doss.

“It was really cool,” McNutt said of getting an offer to the same school his father played at. “Walking around I got to see some pictures on the wall with him and Mike Doss, my uncle, in them. That was pretty cool.”
