Game Thread Ohio State 24, Michigan State 17 (final)

This is a blessing in disguise. We hadn't faced adversity since the UW game and this time it was as the #1 team. How did we respond? We put the clamps down on D, held them to a field goal, and ran it down their throats. I think this will pay big dividends in our game against PSU.

We owned this game... I can't believe how many times our Defense has been given the shaft by the rest of the team. Beanie was just enormous today!!

One thing that's disturbing though is the lack of a running game when beanie was out of the game. Why on earth was Saine not in the game more?? He only got like 3 carries for the game while MoW got like 10 carries and was stopped for little gain on all of them.

At least we survived as #1, thats more than most can say.

Defense was lights out - only giving up 3 points. Its been a while since we've had a little bit of a thriller towards the end, good for the blood pressure :smash:

Here's to Amazing D, 8-0 and a 200+ yard Beanie!!

:oh:

I think it was 221, not 214.

BTW, is that the highest non-Eddie or non-Archie single-game yardage?

Raymont Harris 235 in 39 att
Maurice Clarrett 230 in 31 att
Ollie Cline 229 in 32 att
Calvin Murray 224 in 35 att

This would be #9 overall and the best (by a few yards) against Mich St.

I agree 100%!! This was perdect going into the "heart" of our schedule.

This game wasn't that close though. If you take away our two bad plays, and it was 24-3...I'm still impressed with this team and how well the O looks and how lights out the D is.

Beanie with over 200 yards!!!???

A D that has gave up less that 50 points for the entire season!!!???

Great win guys!

GPA worthy stuff right there.

Oh, anybody check out the ND-USC game

Joe McKnight (USC) just romped for a 51-yd TD and ND has a grand total of 15 yards rushing.

Irony, your name is palendromic.

Well, I would have liked to be a little more convinced going into Happy Valley, but you need to have your mettle tested and our boys passed with flying colors.

I'm a little concerned offensively going into next week, particularly with some issues on the line. I do, however, think we have the playmakers to put enough points on the board. We just need to play like the first half. Cripes, that was like two totally different games offensively, but credit needs to go to Coach D for making some very good adjustments. Defensively, I can see us totally dominating State Penn. Morelli hasn't seen a D like this yet and although he's looked better recently, he's a long way from being a good QB. I'd also say MSU's RB > PSU's. It'll be another grudge match, but I like us something in the area of 17-10.
