Game Thread Ohio State 28, Troy 10 (Final, Sep. 20)

I don't want to be hard on OSU defense but, all those missed tackles , weakness against the spread and the D-LINE getting handle just stood out. The secondary was the only good news by the defense. OSU defense played well enough for the win but, I thought the DEFENSE THIS SEASON was going to be the strength of the TEAM . Thats what gets me

I liked what we did on the D line later in the game, they had all the defensive ends on the line to pass rush. A little quicker and lighter. That may be the key when defending against the spread offense. Get pressure on the QB and tie up the RB. Perhaps this team needs to adjust here and there.

good point. Whatever works can only help. Troy is a better team that I thought and Well coached.

I didn't bother to get through all 48 pages of the thread that I missed, but I saw some concern over the empty seats. South stands, in the upper part, is a lot of visitor seating. Troy returned a large number of tickets. The empty seats may just be those.

Do you think that we would have seen TP starting today had Beanie not been injured?

I don't think that TP would have been fast tracked, as I think he will be from here on. With a healthy Beanie, much more emphasis would be on the running back position, instead of defenses focusing on Todd having to be huge for us to win the game. With that support in the backfield, I think TB definitely continues as QB and he does much better than he has shown in the first part of this season. Pryor would probably have remained a spark plug insertion to the lineup, to provide another option that the defense would have to account for. I don't think that he would've replaced TB as the starter.

I do like what I was able to see on the highlights of today. Gotta hate Time Warner:(

I was disappointed in the crowd. They sat on their hands as if they needed to be won over by the Buckeyes. What a joke. If anything, this team especially needs that support so they can build some confidence after the loss and complete their other goals. You can't call yourself the "best fans in the land" if you can't show up for that.

There's also no good reason to boo Todd Boeckman. I agree that the change needed to be made, and starting Pryor is the right move. The only thing Todd Boeckman owes us fans is to try hard and represent himself and the university with class. He has done those things - it just turns out he hasn't delivered the results on the field that we would have liked.

A lot of people know that he was a grayshirt, but I don't think many people realize that that opportunity has been offered to numerous other young men who have turned away from it to take an immediate scholarship at another school. Boeckman wanted to be a Buckeye, and made the sacrifice to do it. That does not deserve to be booed.

Even though it wasn't his best game, Todd Boeckman quarterbacked at team that beat M*ch*g*n in the Big House. Thankfully, that is something that gets taken for granted these days, but I remember a time we would have killed to have a QB under center who could have a lackluster statistical performance and still manage the game well enough to pull off one of those wins. That does not deserve to be booed.

Finally, Todd Boeckman has handled this situation about as well as any of us could expect. He is being a man about it, and seems to be doing what he can to help Pryor and the team instead of being a distraction. That does not deserve to be booed.
