Game Thread Ohio State 3, Southern Cal 35 (Sept. 13)

A few thoughts as I'm home now and I'm bummed.

1) The Trojans are extremely well coached. That did not look like a QB making his 5th start and it didn't look like an O line that had 4 new starters.

2) If 7 new starters can look like a machine against a very experienced defense then why does Ohio State's experienced offense look completely discombobulated??

3) I think that the Defense was put in a tough spot tonight, but concerns still remain about the D line. There was absolutely NO pass rush tonight against an O line starting 4 new guys.

4) Coach Tressel is a phenominal head coach, but I have to question the people he is surrounded with based on the performance of the team tonight. I think we are starting to see a trend more than an anomaly when it comes to big games like this against teams with equal talent.

5)Terrelle Pryor should get much more time as the season goes on as Todd might get hurt if he has to spend much more time behind that O line.

6) Beanie Wells would not have made a difference tonight.

Sorry if I have repeated what others have said as I haven't read through the thread.

This was bad.

Congratulations USC! I still love my Buckeyes!!!

Congratulations to USC and their fans. They played a great game, and I am impressed by Sanchez on the field and his humility in the post-game interviews.

I still love my Buckeyes even in my disappointment.

Go Buckeyes! May you travel safely back to C-bus. Get your rest, and get ready for conference ball.

That is how an interview should be handled. Congratulations Mark Sanchez and U.S.C. At least he didn't say how much better his conference is and how Ohio State would lose 4-5 games in their conference, and how slow Ohio State is. At least we didn't have to hear a stupid chant like Pac-Ten, Pac-Ten, Pac-ten!!! like a certain other conference who thinks they are so much greater than everyone else. I would like to see U.S.C. and Georgia for all the marbles come January.

Just noticed the Auburn-Miss State score...

3-2 FINAL

WTF?

I actually flipped over to that at halftime...that might have been, and I shit you not, I've watched thousands of hours of football games in my life, the worst display of offense by 2 teams at the same time I've ever seen. It was 3-0 in the 4th with about 8 minutes to go, Auburn had the ball at the 3...they proceded to get a holding call in the end zone to get a safety...3-2, MSU ball. MSU goes for it on 4th and 1...doesn't get it, Auburn ball, just run out the clock. Aburn runs 2 plays and fumbles, MSU ball. MSU goes for it again on 4th down and 1...doesn't get it. Auburn ball, 3 minutes to go, just run out the clock. Next play, Auburn fumbles, MSU ball. Next play, MSU throws a pick, game over. I've never seen anything like it.

Been saying all along, Mark is a class act, and a good kid! The way the Trojans played tonight showed me the RESPECT they had for the OSU BUCKEYES! What I mean is they played hard throughout, never letting up, knowing if they let up, things could change. I dont want anyone thinking I was flaming.

Just speechless.

I think I've been knocked down a peg in my love for a college football team.

Good thing there is more to life than Ohio State football, or I would be [censored]ing dead right now.

Dude, pull yourself together. As an LSU fan, I went through humiliating losing seasons and I still 100% believed my Tigers were the best team on the planet.

So what, you got beat down by a fellow great team. It happens. In recent LSU history, we got beat down 34-14 by Georgia in 2005 (SEC Championship game), 45-16 by Georgia in 2004 (at Georgia during the regular season), 26-8 by Virginia Tech in 2002 (at VT during the regular season), 31-7 by Auburn in 2002 (at Auburn during the regular season), 31-0 by Alabama (at Alabama during the regular season), 35-20 by Texas (in the Cotton Bowl). None of those losses caused me to lose any love for LSU, and it didn't cause any LSU players to lose love for LSU.

Sure, you got beat by a great USC team. So what? So did a lot of teams. USC stomped Arkansas 50-14 in 2006 and 70-17 in 2005, and then Arkansas came to our house and beat us in overtime in 2007. USC also stomped Illinois 49-17 in the Rose Bowl at the end of 2007, Michigan 32-18 in the Rose Bowl at the end of 2006, and Michigan 28-14 in the Rose Bowl at the end of 2003. USC smashed Oklahoma 55-19 in the NC game at the end of 2004. In 2003, USC crushed Auburn 23-0, and also beat Auburn in 2002. Just because you get beat by USC doesn't mean you hang your head and lose respect for your team.

Well, we can still make a run in the Big10 and make a BCS bowl.

I think that whether the offensive line looked like crap or not, when TP was in, the offense moved. I don't think the offense responds as well to TB as it does to TP. It seemed like when TP was in and moving the ball, Todd would come back in and we studder. It's not Todd's fault, but the offense just "clicks" better when TP was in. Even when TP came into the game, the bench cleared to watch him operate. I will never be ashamed to be a Buckeye, even through all the flak I will receive and through what the country and media gives us!

TP will be an absolute stud. I am very impressed with Boom as well. These guys make it exciting to think about the future. We can still run the Big10 fellas, and get a whole season through and show everyone what we are made of come the BCS season.

Next, we beat scUM.

you know I thought we'd struggle up front tonight but I mean I didn't think we'd do this poorly. I think it came as a snow ball effect tonight. I believe we're better than that but how many times can we say that after every loss?

After we screwed up in the first half we gave them all the momentum and I think we gave up (especially on the oline). Which IMO is a poor sign considering how many players returned from this team.

I'm beyond being mad as I kind of saw this coming but having Beanie tonight I think might've been the difference. If Herron was finding room in the first half I think Beanie at 100 percent keeps the chains moving. We were short handed tonight and it showed ten fold, but even with Beanie who knows we probably still lose.

Now, as we move forward i'm starting to worry just HOW MANY games are we going to lose this year (if we do lose any at all)??? Penn State SCARES me now, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michgan State all the sudden are games where if we dont' play and play well we could lose the game. Just for being such a senior lead team its amazing how we're MENTALLY not there anymore. I think mentally the kids that are Seniors/Juniors (or redshirted Sr or JR) are not a confident group. These big games and big loses have taken its toll and I think its evident. We seem to walk around out there after plays and the other teams are getting up fired up and running around. Mentally I am worried about this team for the rest of the season. How will this affect us??
