Ohio State finally has an offense to go along with its outstanding defense. That could spell even more trouble for Minnesota.

The eighth-ranked Buckeyes look to keep rolling as they visit the struggling Golden Gophers on Saturday at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.

The Buckeyes have never lost to Minnesota in the Metrodome, going 10-0 there since the stadium opened in 1982.

Cont'd ...

I really hate when they mention stuff like this...

Don't worry.....the next time we play there they will writing that we have won all 11 times we've played there.
It will take a whole lot more than "oh no, they jinxed us" for Minny to win this one. Something like a bus crash (oh, no, now I just jinxed us!)

There won't be a next time...

Our next game in MinneHaHa will be after their new, on-campus stadium is finished.

I interpreted that comment as Ohio State didn't have an offense to go with their defense for the first 10 quarters of this season, not last season.

Ah. That would make sense. I wasn't going to read any more of the article. But maybe I will since I don't have anything better to do and your interpretation doesn't sound like the writer is a retard who still lives in 2004.

This year, OSU coaches have brought back the mentality of "The Silver Bullets." Last season, the emphasis was on ball hawking, and our turnover margin ultimately bore that out, at the expense of seeing those Jack Tatum highlight hits we have enjoyed going back years and years. This season, the emphasis is on hitting the opponent so hard that they quit playing. Whether it's a WR blasting a LB to spring a run, a DB blowing up a screen, or a special teams gunner ear-hole'ing the first up-man he sees in the wedge, the idea is to strike fear into the opponent in every phase of the game.

Add to this, the Buckeyes can "manufacture" some extra motivation by drawing from last season, where the Jack Tatum hit of the Year was arguably the shot that Ray Small took that ended his season.

Small and the Buckeyes will have revenge on their mind, and I think the special teams hits are going to be nasty this Saturday night -- maybe even personal foul inducing nasty. This team is a family, and they're going to be looking at taking care of their own. Every single player on the roster will see the hit Small took last year. They're likely going to be reminded of it every day this week.

Small will also be the biggest beneficiary of the fast track on the astroturf of the HHH Baggy Dome. Last time we were there, Ginn returned a kick off for a TD and Pittman broke off the long runs we hadn't seen before in his career.

I think #4 enjoys a HUGE day in the return game.

Looks like the guy that hit him, Domique Jones, isn't on the team anymore. Guess they'll have to exact their revenge on someone else.

It's part of the game, but I'd rather see us being the 'Hitters' as opposed to the 'Hittees'. Let's hope Ray and Dane practiced avoiding these hits with the scout team. They are the ones most vulnerable at 180#. Taurian and Hartline are also in that sub 200# category and vulnerable. Be elusive, catch the ball, and don't lose concentration.

On the other side, the Gophers should watch out for the likes of Jenkins, Freeman and Lauranitis - the 'Hitters'. Make Jack Tatum proud.

Yep - Dominic Jones is not going to play for the Gophers, though notably he remains enrolled at U of M and claims he remains on scholarship according to a recent Dispatch piece.
