I do some but then I think of how god awful Syracuse really is. Lets just see. UW has a big disadvantage in special teams, coaching and pass defense for sure. Thats a lot to overcome.

Lets see how they do vs BSU but keeping in mind we are still a big step up from BSU.

If the defense can get to Locker and stuff their running game then that will take the pressure off of our offense - not that it shouldn't be to hard for Robo & Co. to get open. I wonder if Heacock will start to get aggressive with the blitzing schemes against Akron in preparation for UW. Anyone else think we'll have to use the LB's more for pass rushing like we did in 2005?

True. But also keep in mind that we play very bad in regular season games on the west coast, in addition to road openers. Couple that with the fact that we have a first year starter at qb mixing it up in his first nationally televised game..........and you've got a coach who is going to stick very tight to the vest (sorry, couldn't resist).

We will most likely win this game, but it won't be an asskicking like the one's that Troy delivered early on last season.

We've already got Friday night planned, but Saturday is a bit of a mystery. Anyone have any insight as to the best way to get to Husky Stadium? I would love to arrive by boat if possible. Do I need to rent a car in Seattle? Are there many bars around the stadium to hang out at before the game?

Any help would be awesome.

I live S of Seattle, and I was going to take the boat that leaves from the Eastside. That is sold out. I checked on the boat leaving from the Seattle Pier (this is the one you would want from the W), the waiting list is 28 people but they may be opened up up to an additional 40 people, depending on the weather. I ended up reserving spots on the boat leaving from Ivar's Salmon House. This info is as of midday today.

If you're wondering why Washington fans are going bonkers over redshirt quarterback Jake Locker, why the pride of Ferndale, Wash., is already being earnestly touted as the program's savior and a future Heisman Trophy candidate, it's time for a quick history lesson.
From 1977 to 2003, the Huskies never posted a losing record. During that span, they finished with a top-25 ranking 15 times. That includes a split national title and six other top-10 finishes. As recently as 2000, Washington won the Rose Bowl and earned a final No. 3 perch. That year, average attendance at Husky Stadium was 71,638, tops in the Pac-10.

So Washington was an elite program for more than a quarter century. And then it went splat, winning just four conference games and eight games overall over the past three seasons. Average attendance in 2006? 57,483.

Suffice it to say, there's been plenty of teeth gnashing and fist shaking at the heavens among the Huskies faithful during this stunning implosion.

The Huskies started 4-1 in 2006, Tyrone Willingham's second rebuilding season, and nearly upset then-No. 3 USC. But that promising moment transformed into the first of six consecutive defeats, a losing streak capped by a humiliating 20-3 loss to woeful Stanford in stupefied Husky Stadium.

With a brutal schedule widely viewed as the nation's toughest and just 12 returning starters, few expected dramatic progress this season, witness the preseason Pac-10 poll that slotted the Huskies ninth.

Then, in just three quarters of work, Locker made like the ancient Franks and plundered Syracuse, rushing for 83 yards on 10 carries with two touchdowns and completing 14 of 19 passes for 142 yards in a 42-12 demolition of the hapless Orange.

You could go dig up 11 guys who defended ancient Syracuse and have a better defense than the current Syracuse.

I'm with Wells4Heisman...lets see what happens vs Boise. Syracuse is like a 1-AA team(the kind tsun can beat that is). :biggrin:

I think the Bucks win by at least 10. They won't rout them, I think, but it probably won't be '02-Cincinnati scary. It should be tight until about midway through the 3rd quarter when the difference in talent level begins to show. Boeckman should be able to pick apart their pass defense, but then again, so could most of us if we strapped on a helmet, pads, and a jersey. Syracuse just has bad QB's, a horrendous o-line and an even worse defense. It won't be easy, and at times it may look a little ugly - it is only the new offense's third game, after all - but we should be fine.

28-17 tOSU.
