Ohio State @ Indiana, Sunday, February 10 @ 1pm, CBS

Well here's how that happens. Now we all know that every high school QB can pass lights out, make every pass known to God, and use touch or zip it to perfection. They can throw short or deep, never too far in front or behind, and to the side away from the DB.
And then they get to College and start drinking beer and having nightly sex, and even some nooners...... end of story.
It's kinda like Sampson and Delilah........
Actually my daughter is a junior at OSU and her boyfriend is a soph, they just told me last week the basketball team parties very hard and can be found at Midway most days of the week and on weekends.

Gene Smith hasn't really bungled very much.
He probably cost OSU a national championship in football. I'm not sure there's any way an AD at OSU could bungle anything worse. He bungled the Tressel firing. He created the tatoogate scandal by installing Doug Archie as Compliance Director and ditching the changes instituted by Andy Geiger.

He made OSU football the most expensive ticket in the NCAA. The basketball practice facility was a good year behind schedule and $5 Million over budget. The wrestling coach hire was good, the baseball coach hire was bad. The women's basketball coach hire doesn't look too good. He tried to charge $20 for spring game tickets. He stood idly by while Delany put OSU and Michigan in separate football divisions, and he was ready to sell naming rights to The Game (kudos to TTUN for blocking that dumbfuck idea).

This is off the top of my head. He sucks and should've been fired years ago. He's a corporatist whore. He's Dave Brandon with a winning football team.

The drinking age is 21. What are your junior daughter and her sophomore boyfriend doing out at the bars? And don't their phones have cameras?

You're right. Get Holtmann on the phone and have him cancel the rest of the games :roll1:

For a team with exactly zero expectations of success going into the season, making the tournament is a big deal. This isn't a good team but the culture Holtmann seems to be installing is making it work.
And if they don't make the playoff then we should expand the playoff so they do get in. Because winning it doesn't matter. Getting in matters.

The NCAA tournament is too big. It's stupid for a team like this year's Buckeyes to compete in it. They don't deserve to think they've achieved any kind of success. And the same shit is going to happen with the football playoff, and for the same reasons.

You obviously missed my point.

The NCAA tournament is too big.
there are over 350 division one teams. 20% having a shot at the title is hardly too much. i can think of few things dumber than slashing the tournament to 32 or 16 teams. if you want to ruin the best weekend in all of sports, go ahead and make it smaller.

And the same shit is going to happen with the football playoff
3% of the eligible teams compete for a title.

again... 3%.

Virginia would agree that lowly seeded teams like UMBC last year shouldn't be in the tournament.

Do you think this OSU team if they make the tournament has any business being eligible for a championship after their regular season?

I get the entertainment value but it's clearly not the best format for finding the best team

who said a single-elimination tournament is the best format for finding the best team? you're clearly misguided if you think the actual goal of the ncaa tournament is to determine the nation's best team. first and foremost, march madness is about entertainment. and money, of course.
