Game Thread Ohio State @ Nebraska, 10/14/17 @ 7:30 ET (FS1)

When I told him that we were at the last OSU game in Lincoln, he said "oh yeah, the Bauserman game". LOL, how many fans can name the opposing backup quarterback from six years ago? Well, basically all Husker fans.

They remember because it's why they won. Braxton doesn't get hurt and it's 0-6 vs the Buckeyes.

Cooper really did some good things...taking Buckeye recruiting national, recruiting some big-time players and award winners, making us a relevant program on the national scene, 1996-97 Rose Bowl (still one of my favorite games EVER). But his baffling inability to beat inferior scUM teams, poor Bowl record, '98 MSU, and the way the program seemed to be running off the tracks at the end of his tenure taint all of the good.

I can say I'm not sure we'd be where we are today without Coop, though. His recruiting laid the foundation for that '02 NC team, and his overall recruiting elevated the program.
To me, the MSU loss was mostly just bad luck. The Buckeyes had Burress contained pretty well until Damon Moore separated his shoulder diving into the end zone on a pic-six. That was middle 3rd quarter, 24-7 Bucks. Without him at corner (safety?) all Sparty had to do was toss jump balls up for 6' 6" Burress and he just shredded for three drives. That was a heart wrenching meltdown. Still hurts to this day.

I respect Coop for rejuvenating the program. But whenever I reflect on his tenure, the 14% graduation rate never fails to pop up.

Oh dear God, I totally had forgotten that number. Seriously forgot how bad it was.
