PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The No. 24 Ohio State softball team (22-8-1, 7-1-1) used the home run ball -- five, specifically -- and a well-balanced offensive attack that saw nine different players record hits and 13 runs scored over the final three innings to pull away for a 17-8 victory over Rutgers (18-21, 2-5) on a blustery Friday afternoon in Piscataway.

White's three-run shot as part of an eight-run fifth inning gave Ohio State an 11-5 edge. Rough weekend for the Lady Bucks

After sweeping a double-header from Penn State, the Lady Bucks traveled to Ann Arbor (that whore) having won 13 of their last 15 contests. A cold splash of reality hit them in the face and they suffered a 3-game sweep at the hands of dUMb.

Game 1

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Second-ranked Michigan scored seven times in the fifth and sixth innings to open up a otherwise close game and claim a 8-0 victory over 23rd-ranked Ohio State on Friday evening at a sold out Wilpon Complex in Ann Arbor.

THE SHORT STORY
The Buckeyes saw their seven-game unbeaten streak come to an end thanks to the pitching of UM's Megan Betsa (6.0 IP, 13 strikeouts) and late hitting that produced three runs in the fifth inning and four in the sixth. Ohio State now stands at 25-9-1, 9-2-1 in the Big Ten while Michigan is 31-4, 9-2.

Game 2

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Home runs by Michigan's Faith Canfied and Kelly Christner powered the second-ranked Wolverines (32-4, 10-2) to a hard-fought 5-1 victory over No. 23 Ohio State (25-10, 9-3-1) on Saturday in front of another sold out crowd at the Wilpon Complex in Ann Arbor.

THE STORT STORY
Christner's solo shot in the second inning and a two-run blast by Canfield in the fourth inning proved to be enough offense for Michigan pitcher Sara Driesenga, who gave up six hit to the Buckeyes but allowed just one run. Ohio State, meanwhile, had runners on base in the first, second, third and fourth innings but could only push across the one run.

The Lady Buckeyes have rebounded nicely from the disappointing sweep at the hands of dUMb going 4-1.

2 game sweep of Beavis

ATHENS, Ohio -- Another midweek masterpiece by Shelby Hursh in the first game followed by some late-inning clutch hitting added up to a doubleheader sweep for the Ohio State softball team over Ohio on Tuesday in Athens. With the wins, the Buckeyes improve to 27-11-1 while the Bobcats are 25-18.

THE SHORT STORY
Hursh went head to head with Ohio ace Savannah Jo Dorsey, the nation's strikeout leader, in a classic pitchers dual in with the only run of the game came in via a perfectly executed suicide squeeze. Hursh, who tossed a complete game shutout last Wednesday vs. Dayton, struck out seven and scattered just three hits. In the second game, Ohio State erupted for six runs over the final three innings to pull away from a 10-4 victory.

THE SHORT STORY
Trailing 4-1 entering the bottom of the seventh, Ohio State pushed four runs across, with the final two coming off the bat of McIntyre, who singled to right field and scored Alex Bayne and Taylor White. Saw the softball Bucks on B10 channel once. Powerful. Slender females jerking balls over the left field fence, almost too quick for my eyes to follow. Defense was very good. Much quicker game in my mind's eye than baseball. would like to see them go to the B10 playoffs, but don't even know if there's a national championship like in men's baseball. Go Bucks

Ladies drop game 3

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Despite a three-run third inning home run by freshman Emily Clark, Ohio State dropped a 5-3 decision to Indiana on Sunday at Andy Mohr Field in the rubber game of this weekend’s series. The Buckeyes now stand at 30-14-1, 12-7-1 while the Hoosiers are 26-23, 8-12.

THE SHORT STORY
Leading 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth, the Buckeyes gave up a grand slam to Michelle Huber after a walk, double and walk loaded the bases. That hit was all the offense Indiana would need, as Ohio State stranded two base runners in the top of the seventh and couldn’t complete the comeback.
