Ohio State vs Iowa, Mar 9, 2023, 2:30 PM EST, BTN

I assume McNeil has 1 more year of eligibility because of covid is this correct ? Will he stay if correct ? Anyone know ?
No. He was honored on senior night along with Sueing and Likelele.

  • Graduated from WVU with a bachelor’s degree in sport management
I don't think Sean has an NBA future and he already has a degree in Sports Management. I'd like him to return for another year; however, at some point in the young man's life he has to get on with his life after basketball (i.e. start his career) and just maybe he's decided that after this season is that time.

In addition, some personnel issues might have come into play too:

"PEOPLE SEE US AS BASKETBALL PLAYERS AND THAT'S GREAT. THAT'S WHAT WE'VE WORKED FOR OUR WHOLE LIFE. BUT AT THE SAME TIME, WE ALSO HAVE A LIFE OUTSIDE OF BASKETBALL. AND I KNOW THAT'S HARD FOR PEOPLE TO REALIZE."– SEAN MCNEIL

He wouldn't have gone through the senior night honors if he planned to return.

His knee issue is going to sour NBA teams on him. He'll be back.

I honestly don't know, is there actually a knee injury with him before this announcement. He looked completely fine until not playing in the B1G Tourney last game, that's why I'm skeptical. I really want him back next year, but I'm wondering if something else is at play in the sense that if this team was headed to the dance, I think he would be playing. That or he is preserving himself for the draft. I hope selfishly he's injured and he'll recover for a big season, when he's on he is incredible.

Yeah he had a meniscus issue in High School too. All that needs to happen is for him to get a non-favorable draft position grade and he'll be back.

Since he is injured, and conspiracy theories aside, the school confirmed it with holding him out and telling everyone it was an injury, I'd say the odds are he'll be back now. Probably only 1 more year, but it's a year to get quicker, maybe slim down a bit and also maybe go on a big time run.

Thanks for the info, didn't know he's had an injury issue before coming to Columbus. Fingers crossed he can get healthy and put together a great season to boost his draft stock, he's probably the most talented scorer I've seen here since Russell, and before him Conley.
