Ohio University to play Ohio State in 2008

After Marshall misssed on a potential game winner just before that, right?

And while they're not MAC, U Cincinnati, has taken the Bucks to the final ticks and once had a 16 point lead and the ball at the OSU 30 before they blew up.

Miami with Rothlesberger gave the Bucks a real fight. BG took them into the 4th qtr a couple of years back.

It will happen some time and it will be a year of eating shit sandwiches when it does. While I understand the many reasons for playing such games they present OSU with no real way to win.

Miami and BG have been good too. However, they are not at the same level as they were in the past.

I didn't mention Cincinnati because they aren't in the MAC but they would definitely be a huge test right now. That would be a tough road game.

Ohio State never played Miami(OH) while Roethlisberger was their starter. If you're referencing the game in 2000, Roethlisberger was a true freshman and their starting quarterback was Mike Bath.

Roethlisberger would have given OSU fits if he had actually QBd against us. Josh Harris at BG gave OSU some problems. Wasn't Leftwich the QB at Marshall when OSU played them?

Hahaha, OSU keeps playing the MAC schools when they don't have their NFL QBs. Although, they did play Kent when Joshua Cribbs was under center.

Yes we look into the future and see when 5-6 years ahead a MAC team is going to have an NFL QB, and then instead of recruiting said NFL QB away from the MAC school we schedule the team the year after their NFL QB graduates.

He sure gave Iowa fits.
In 2002, yes, he did. In 2003, Iowa came back with a vengeance. Poor Big Ben. 4 picks.

That was their only loss that year too. If they had been able to beat Iowa, Miami (OH) could have had a really, really special year.

MAC QBs are usually rather mobile, but in a good way. They don't try to beat you with their legs, like Vince Young. Instead, they just try to avoid the pass rush, and then make a play.

For the record, the next great NFL QB to come from the MAC is going to be Nate Davis. He is amazing. Absolutely horrible offensive line, and still puts up solid numbers as a Sophomore when playing against Big Ten, Big 12, and Big East teams. Creates on the move, but doesn't try to beat you with his legs.

I think Miami's lone loss that year was to Northwestern instead of Iowa? Nate Davis is sick. Central Michigan has a hell of QB as well. I can see both of them playing on Sundays.

Ord Post Count:

I have to admit that the one thing with which I find myself in agreement with the Fear and Loathing crowd over at bobcatattack or miamicocktalk is the bizarre phenomenon of students of the The Other State Universities continuing to root for Ohio State after enrolling elsewhere. While I can certainly see an exception for someone who went to say Kenyon or out of state, continuing to root and focus on Ohio State after enrolling in another D1, public university (if only a Fredo University) just doesn't make sense.

While I have to admit to getting a certain amount of pleasure from the fits and seizures that it induces among the true believers, it is a rather odd phenomenon--particularly given the antagonistic and at times bitter relationship between the universities involved. I just couldn't imagine myself rooting for the sports teams of another school with whom my own alma mater has had such a contentious and hostile history. Bizarre, indeed!

As for the actual on-field/x's & o's/player match up discussion: there is none. Or at least no more so than there is for the Troy game. The only thing that elevates this tune-up contest in the slightest and provides any interest whatsoever is the antagonistic history of the universities involved, the constant (and constantly amusing) fear & loathing over at bobcatattack and the rather odd phenomenon of OU students/alumni rooting for Ohio State over their own school/alma mater. Other than that, it's no different than a game against TCU or San Jose State.

Feel free to post your next picture. I guess it will have to pass for an actual intelligent or clever response.
