OL Jim Cordle (Official Thread)

I remember after the spring game, Troy Smith had all kinds of praise for JC. It was obvious that Smith was very impressed. To the point where I began wondering if he were making a subtle push for him to move to center and possibly moving Moangold over a spot. That is pure conjecture on my part.
I think some of you may be downplaying this kid's talent level and over playing the age old idea that Freshmen are not smart enough to learn quickly and be effective. I figured Cordle was a sure thing at center whil Datish would move to Guard (More natural position) to replace Sims

IIRC it was more than conjecture - it was talked about by insiders based on comments from coaches.

This is the best OL competition the OL since JT has been here. Great names being thrown aroudn and you rarely hear mention of Person, Mitchum and Skinner ALL of whom were well regarded coming out of HS and all of whom are entering their third season.

If we only had some skill players to go with the OL.

I don't recall where I read this, so credit can not be given, I do believe it was on BN though and someone rasied an issue that Jimmy is unable to get his weight up and is still playing at the 265-270 mark. Has anyone else heard about this?

Also there seems to be some mixed reports on the quality of the Lineman we have and the need for at least 3-4 in this class. In regards to Mitchum, Skinner, and Peasron they were highly recruited but I have not seen or heard anything that makes me feel confident they can come in and play.

I am not saying the sky is falling by any means and this group could be as solid as we have had for a long time but there is a lot of ??? and unproven players on the line IMO.

I had heard that about Cordle's weight, and was wondering where that stood. According to the ozone article yesterday, Cordle came in at 285, got up to 305 when he was injured last year, and then lost too much weight, getting down to 275. He says he has now gained 'good weight', and is at 289.

Is there something wrong with cordle becuase almost all of our backup lineman played significant time in the texas game, and played when it really mattered too, but i never saw cordle out there. I saw whaley, and maybe cordle is the third string which i am pretty sure he is, but i still thought he might get some pt considersing how the coaches liked him so well when he first arrived on campus.
