OSU receives commitment from Brewster

Losing to Florida in the national title game didn't hurt Ohio State's recruiting effort in the Sunshine State. In fact, the Buckeyes landed arguably Florida's top recruit Monday.

During a weekend visit to Ohio State, offensive lineman Michael Brewster told OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel he would be a Buckeye in 2008.

The pint-sized head coach gave the 6-foot-6, 305-pounder a bear hug, Brewster said.

"It feels natural to be a Buckeye," Brewster said.

College football: Florida lineman picks OSU Brewster, a 305-pounder, likes Buckeyes because of their family atmosphere

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The Ohio State coaches appear determined to fill a void left in their offensive line pool from the past two recruiting classes, and they're doing it with large fellows. Blue-chipper Michael Brewster of Orlando (Edgewater), Fla., yesterday became the sixth commitment to the class of 2008. It was a big get, and not just because Brewster is 6 feet 6 and 305 pounds.
"The OSU coaches went into Florida and landed a guy the Florida Gators really wanted, and a guy that Southern California, Louisiana State, Alabama and lot of other people were trying to get," said analyst Bill Kurelic of the Ohio Football Recruiting News.

You have to love it. WE know why the coaches can recruit. When the coaches care this much it shows.

I have a real close connection with him,? Brewster informed of his relationship with Coach Bollman. ?It is not every coach that would have had tears running down his face when I decided to play for their team?
I also have a great relationship with Coach (Jim) Tressel. When I said I was going to play for the Buckeyes he jumped out of his chair and gave me a big bear hug

Does anyone know if Bolls was on the 'hot seat' because of the O-line defections? That was my first thought when heard that Bolls had tears running down his cheeks. Losing two and replacing two is not a bad trade, but losing two and replacing with four studs is much better!

We've gone easy on the copying and pasting in this forum the last few days but let's try and get back to the rules. Copying and pasting a link is okay, but copying and pasting entire portions of text could lead to problems.
