Opinion: Worst personal trait

yeah soldier i was a jarhead. if you were in the service i'm sure you've heard "one plays we all pay". i am talking about parris island and the 13 1/2 week vacation i took in september of '90. no the whole world doesn't need to think like a jarhead but i tell you what, i have taken a lot from what i learned in 4 years in the USMC and have been promoted swiftly through the white-collar job ranks and am thoroughly satisfied with my position in life. i graduated from osu in '98 but i learned a hell of a lot more from the tough team. the funny thing is that it isn't anything that has to do with blood and guts or violence, it's that leadership and work ethic stuff that no college or b school program can teach you.

as far as marching to the beat of a different drummer.....that is pretty easy. when was the last time you had to work as a team (it can be work, social organization, etc.) and you had somebody on your team that was counterproductive or didn't do his/her part? this easy example explains my original thought.

Lack of accountability. I hate dishonesty, and when I find dishonest people I will simply avoid them whenever possible. But as far as something being a "peeve", I can't stand people with a lack of accountability.

These people are the Omarosas (sp.) of the world. They are unwilling to accept blame for themselves, their children, etc. They make terrible employees (peers, subordinates, or bosses,) are often lousy parents (since their kids never do anything wrong either,) and if they also happen to be unmotivated, they can be a drain on society, since they feel as though they are owed something. These people just make my teeth gnash.

well... that certainly does explain a lot.... i think i have a little more respect for ya now ekeen, not so much because you were a marine, but because i understand that there is a logical reason for the mentality you take in all the political debates and the like..

i havent gotten to deal with many jar heads but everyone knows the stereo type, however the only one ive spoken too extensively while in service was a very open minded and intelligent individual who was being tossed around different bases because they didnt know how to deal with him (he developed some serious issues from that anthrax vaccine)

and ok, ive got no problem with the beat of a different drummer hate from that deffinition, we just have different definitions of it. but yea, i dont like those guys either... thought maybe you didnt like me cuz i used to have green hair for a minute
