OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

conley-esque?
in the sense that garvin excels on both sides of the court, shines closer to the basket than from the perimeter, is adept at finishing with either hand, and has an excellent change-of-tempo game. of course, while garvin is quick, few can match conley's top-end speed. both have dads who were great athletes, but only one was world class. but for all the talk of physical attributes and skills, mike conley is mike conley mostly because of what's above his shoulders. garvin appears to be composed, but mr. conley is a buddhist monk on the court.

Has the staff made any attempt at all to flip Francis? Would still love that kid in the class.
i've heard nothing, and i've also not heard anything about roy looking at other 2019 point guards. i do remember a blurb about roy watching a guard during the first aau weekend, but he might have been there for someone else or just passing time. anyway, if i'm francis and am not seeing my future coach looking at guards possibly to replace me, my commitment would only grow stronger.

mentioned garvin clarke in the zeb jackson thread. really, really like him. hope he gets offered. if we're getting a point guard and it's not penn, then my guy is clarke all day long. bonus points to anyone who can pinpoint the barely noticeable play that made me rewind about 10 times...

pass on the break at the 1;33 mark where he put english on the pass with 2 hands.

Yeah, I noticed that after going back through the thread. Couldn't see the video at work and just got to look at it last night. I try not to make any judgments off of highlight videos, so won't say much other than he looks like he is under control and has solid athleticism.

it's not just a highlight video that i'm basing my opinions off of. the reports from recent aau performances, last high school season performances, and last aau season performances have been very good. also, what the highlight videos don't showcase is his defense, which, again, is widely reported to be very good.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I wasn't implying you were. I was stating that I don't offer my opinions off of highlight videos which was a preface to my comment that followed.

I don't know if an official offer was ever announced but I think it's safe to say it was there, more or less, because he was a priority for Holtmann early on when Chris first got the job. But Holtmann must have (correctly) guessed that he was making head-way with Gaffney as last season went on because that's kind of where our focus went, and actually getting Gaffney's commitment was probably the nail in the coffin for our Weems recruitment.

That said, it's nice that Romeo seems to think OSU is a nice name to include in his Top 5!
