Do you think that Paterno and Bowden are "hanging in there" to end up with the record for most wins? And Thus overstaying in their careers.

I firmly believe that Joepa can still coach. Even though we beat them I felt that the fundamentals were there but not the talent.
I think that Joe has problems recruiting and that is his downfall. He is a grand old coach that I admire greatly but it is time. And that is my vote :(.
I don't really know what Bobby's problem is but he apparently should step down also.
And all the play-calling, and the bulk of player development is in the hands of Johnson, Hall, Bradley and the beneficiary of nepotism ... Paterno Jr.AKAKBUCK;977147; said:Dude... don't take this the wrong way.... because I know its going to hit home with you...
But... the problem is that those guys are really, really, really, really old.
(Oh... and... ummm... there are schools other than Duke, Wake, and NC State in the ACC now, and PSU doesn't get to play the Service Academies every week anymore.... ummm.... that too)

and Paterno isn't really coaching any more.
He coaches the coaches , just like good old Coop .sandgk;977156; said:And all the play-calling, and the bulk of player development is in the hands of Johnson, Hall, Bradley and the beneficiary of nepotism ... Paterno Jr.

Eh, no - but if you want to joke about a growing abomination on the coaching landscape then go right ahead.Best Buckeye;977159; said:He coaches the coaches , just like good old Coop .
I never said, and nobody here said they didn't like him as a public figure - for heavens sake he is a legend in the game. He is, however, past his prime. His actions are becoming odder as time goes on.Best Buckeye;977159; said:And I still like him even if he is really, really, really, really old.
After all I'm still a young man in my prime.
That's a hypothetical that will not fly. The Penn State alumni are not going to stand for the beneficiary of nepotism taking over. So, not 3 years, more like 3 picoseconds.Best Buckeye;977159; said:And here is a question for you guys, Say Joe leaves and his son takes over and doesn't do any better in say 3 years how long does he last?
Ok I can agree with that , and with that being said then WHO is the next coach at PSU?sandgk;977171; said:That's a hypothetical that will not fly. The Penn State alumni are not going to stand for the beneficiary of nepotism taking over. So, not 3 years, more like 3 picoseconds.
