Peach Bowl: #1 Georgia vs #4 tOSU, Sat 12/31 8 ET on ESPN

Final thoughts.. too many bounces went GA way..
There should have been SOME penalty for a hit like that against a WR who is clearly is looking up for the ball and defenseless and gets destroyed
Questionable play calling in the last 5 min..
Is it more heartbreaking losing by 1 or 30? They all hurt
I really really wanted to beat an SEC team.. especially #1.. lose to TCU in the NC? well then they were clearly the best team.. but OSU didn't get it done.. and now I have to root for some TCU miracle...
We had too many players out is my excuse... that said our defense honestly gave up 7 to start the game too even though they missed the field goal. Bennett blew a zone read that should've been 7, UGA then missed the field goal and then missed another field goal.

Bottom line is... we were up 6 with 4 minutes (probably should've operated with 4 downs in hindsight) and had a chance to get a stop. Yet let them score AGAIN from 70+ yards out in under 2 minutes.

We were lucky to even have the opportunity to kick a game winning field goal. This game is all on the defense again unfortunately.

My only player criticism is that our new Michigan fan is right. Lathan Ransom is a liability of all liabilities. He shouldn't have been on the field and yet he was there every single time they made a big play. Kill me and ban me if you must but that young man gave up big play after big play all game.

hire a big 12 DC, get big 12 results.
they score 120 pts a game down there.
The frustrating thing is that his defenses at oOSU did not perform like Big 12 defenses. I'm willing to extend some rope because I think there are personnel problems with our defense...particularly the secondary. They are TERRIBLE. Need to address that.

And, at least his defenses did perform against the rank-and-file teams. That's at least a step up from 2021 that got gashed by almost everyone. But, yeah, need to see legit improvement next year. This is three straight, and four of five years of subpar defense. That is unacceptable.

Meh…Oklahoma State didn’t have a Big 12 defense, and with Ohio state offense PPG… expectation should be recalibrated with PPP. That said, you gotta know where the strength lies and scheme to accentuate it. He absolutely did not the last 3 games

I was pleasantly surprised. If you told me before the game we’d have a 50 yard FG to win the game, I’d have taken it.

Disappointed Noah hit a duck hook in that moment….that’s gonna be with him a long time unfortunately.

Thought Day called an amazing game right up until the last 30 seconds. He got a bit conservative running into a 7 man front…..to think we’d catch them dropping deep when they were bringing the house every series post MH Jr. getting concussed, was not great…

We still had chances to win but that non-targeting call was trash. Flipped the game on its head. 1st and Goal from the 4 if upheld….we score a TD there and game is basically over.

Was a bit surprised (I probably shouldn’t be) that they wouldn’t let MH Jr. back into game……remember when Shaun Wade concussed Trevor Lawrence and got called for targeting? Lawrence was back in the next play…..I have zero doubt that many schools let MH Jr. finish that game out after leaving the tent and wanting to play. I guess credit to OSU for having some standards but it stings….u can only lose so much talent before scoring TD’s becomes damn near impossible.

Props to CJ…..kid left it all on the field tonight. Finally gave up his body and got hard yards with his feet when needed. I think he just solidified himself as the #1 pick.

Kind of a weird year for me…..went from sky high expectations, to just wanting to move onto to 2023, to being pretty impressed with what they were able to accomplish tonight. The defense needs to get significantly better and I am optimistic it will as Knowles continues to build the foundation of what this defense will be. It’s also been a strange few years with kids playing grown men….Stetson Bennett is as old as Dick Clark. He could’ve been hosting NYE tonight.

I’ve said it for a while now but those who want to run Day off are taking a massive risk IMO. His style is built for the CFP even if he struggles against Michigan in Big 10 play. It showed tonight again. Is it a bit finesse? Without a doubt…..but absent some terrible calls/luck/breaks we beat the best team in college football tonight.

And the ball was not tipped immediately either. It was a little bit downfield, meaning there is absolutely still interference.
Defensive pass interference rules apply from the time the ball is thrown until any player touches the ball on either team. This means that when the ball is tipped, pass interference cannot be called.Feb 2, 2005

So the ref would have to have seen that the receiver was interferred with prior to the ball being tipped at which point it's a free ball

setting aside that this is an NFL answer, the entire quote:
Defensive pass interference rules apply from the time the ball is thrown until any player touches the ball on either team. This means that when the ball is tipped, pass interference cannot be called. However, any action such as tackling a receiver or holding him can still result in defensive holding and carries a 5-yard penalty and an automatic first down. Holding can be interference, but most interference situations involve contact just before the ball arrives.

1) There was clearly holding

2) Most interference situations involve contact just before the ball arrives. After the ball is tipped. This was not one of those.

That's what pissed me off. We were playing with house money. Day talked about playing loose with nothing to lose. Then on that last two drives, he reverts to the wooden playcalling that is so goddamned frustrating. That final sequence was unforgivable. This is Ohio State, there are no moral victories.

The guys before him set some lofty standards and built a machine. Ryan Day isn't meeting those standards.
The guy right before him called a pass play on first down from the Buckeye 40 with just under 2 minutes to play and bama sitting on three time outs. The great ones make bum calls too.

Who cares... score 7 instead of 3. Don't give up a busted 7 points with your DB falling over nothing.

Refs didn't blow it. We did.
