Wins against Minnesota, scUM & Northwestern is nothing to get excited over. Another BIG, hopefully healthy, win for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State- 35
State Penn- 6

i actually agree with this, our recent history in post bye week games isn't great, PSU really is playing better (especially at QB with mcgloin), and the defense could be vulnerable to royster (COULD be. COULD)

i'm not saying -17 is way off, but i think -14 or -15 would make more sense

Wonder if any State penn fans will pull out the oil rags they wore last year?

Then I remembered my favorite post from last years thread....

So I finally figured out why this gay Pennis State lion is wearing a scarf all the time, I managed to find a picture of it without the scarf on:

while I was just joking, one thing I know for sure is that Evan Royster will not do a damn thing against us. that guy makes his living against awful teams and disappears in anything resembling a meaningful game.

I'll put real money on him not sniffing 80 yards.

And Minnesota and Purdue are for us? Penn State's last two oppoents are much stronger than our last two. Penn State comes in at 6-3. The only team Ohio State has beaten so far that currently has more than 5 wins is Ohio at 7-3. So I think using their recent schedule to say that they aren't really getting any better would also mean that you could say the same thing about Ohio State. I feel both teams are better than they were a month ago. I think we are getting Penn State at a bad time, but I think they are also getting us at a bad time. This to me means this is going to be one hell of a football game.

I know a bunch of people want to write off Penn State this year because of midseason struggles. Their offense has found a step or two, all be it against easier defenses than ours, but they come into this game as hot as they've been all season. But what worries me more is their defense. Quite a performance in the second half against Northwestern. They also stopped Michigan far more than I've seen Michigan slowed down this year with a bend but don't break defense that got them ahead 31-10 in the 3rd quarter. This defense has been tested lately, and they are definitely growing. They aren't at the level Ohio State is at, but they are playing far better than they were a month ago.

I think, taking into consideration when we've played teams and how Penn State is playing now, this will be our third toughest game so far this season (behind Wisky and Miami). I think Tress will have the boys ready for this one, but this one will be one of the more physical games we have played in all year. I'm hoping those that will be in The 'Shoe with me will feel this way and get loud and use that homefield advantange that we have always enjoyed against Penn State.

Since 2002 we are 6-2 against them. And even though Penn State won last time they came to Columbus, that is the only time they have won here since 1978.

It'll be intersting to see how we come out early since we are coming off a bye. I'm confident the Buckeyes will win. I'm thinking 31-17 Buckeyes and i'm thinking Herron has his 2nd 100 yard game. 17 points is A BUNCH for a Big Ten game in November, no matter who the opponent. Don't get me wrong, I want to beat the shit out of PSU as much as anybody. But I'd even take a one point win in November. Just win!

That being said...I hate Penn State. Every year they come into this game acting as though they are on an even plane with our program and that this is a battle between two elite programs. Little do they know that they are just wannabes. They are not elite. They are average at best. They are never in the NCG mix. This is a game that pits the Midwest's MOST ELITE football program against an above average football program that sometimes gets lucky and overachieves.

These next three games are tough. I will be impressed if we win all three, which I think we can. But November is always a grind it out month, and even though style points would be nice for the BCS, I think our hope of getting in the NCG is dead. And I doubt we will jump ahead of Wisconsin because of style points if they don't lose out...so I really don't see what the style points are going to get us. This November is about grinding it out and winning three football games ANY WAY YOU CAN. Pryor is undefeated in November...it has by far been his best month. Tressel is an amazing 26-4 in November since he came to Columbus! And a lot of those wins were in grind it out very close football games. It's just win November and Tressel will find a way to do just that.

Of a side note...we will be playing Penn State at home again next year.

Agree. He's just like Darryl Clark in that respect.

I think our offense is a bit more powerful than NW's.

this will be our third toughest game so far this season (behind Wisky and Miami).

How can you say that when Illinois housed PSU? Especially considering OSU's game was @Illinois whereas this game for OSU will be at home?

Sophomore Matt McGloin will start for Penn State at quarterback in Saturday's game at Ohio State (No. 9 BCS, No. 8 AP).
McGloin will make his second career start, although coach Joe Paterno said freshman Rob Bolden might play, too. The former walk-on relieved Bolden last week against Northwestern and led Penn State on five consecutive scoring drives as the Nittany Lions rallied for a 35-21 victory.
Paterno had planned to play both quarterbacks against Northwestern.
