PGA Tour (Official Thread)

Since that nightmare drive on 13, Spieth is like a totally different player.

That 5 hole stretch was incredible.

Just an unreal finish by Spieth. I felt a little bad for Kuchar, who to his credit, remained solid throughout the 13th and the ensuing Speith onslaught. It certainly stymied the thought that he couldn't finish on Sunday when holding the 54 hole lead.

They had a PGA tournament somewhere in Alabama over the weekend and for some reason I watched some of it on Sunday. A guy who was trying to win his first PGA tournament had a one-stroke lead and was in the middle of the fairway on either the 16th or 17th hole and there was water about 15-20 yards to the right of the green. Anyhow, the guy pulled the big gpple and hit the ball right into the water. So much for his PGA card. I now see why he was not playing in the Open.

It's not the first time a par 70 course was played in a major. It's the first time anyone shot 62.
While you are quite right in your statement, when I say it is misleading I refer to the following: 62 equates to -8 which, Johnny Miller was the first to shoot when he shot a 63 at Oakmont in severe conditions. -9 under has been acheived 5 times in a major round and -8 has been acheived 6 times. So, while 62 is nice and all, it is the net to par which is the real achievement.

THE BIG 3 ERA: JACK NICKLAUS, ARNOLD PALMER, & GARY PLAYER (1955-1986)
COMBINED 34 MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIPS / 269 TOURNAMENT WINS

image2.jpeg

Though these three players had a staggering number of victories, there is no denying that Jack Nicklaus is the best player of the three. He holds the record for most majors won with 18. He is also the oldest player to win a major. He won the Masters at age 46 in 1986 to capture what would be his last major championship win. Palmer and Player were both magnificent players in their own right. Gary Player has won more tournaments worldwide than anyone, and the late Arnold Palmer changed the face of golf. Arnold brought so many fans to the game of golf. He always had time for his fans until the day he died. Palmer won 7 major titles and Player won 9. Lee Trevino and Tom Watson also competed within this time frame and were great competitors of the Big Three. Watson won 8 majors and Trevino won 6.

"Yes, sir!"....Jack's still the best.
