On this day in sports history (maybe the NFL's all time most famous play)......

I've had fun over the years with local Steelers fans, who know their history so well some think this play was part of the first Super Bowl run. The reality is they lost to the Dolphins, who were on their way to 17-0, the following week. Amazingly, unbeaten Miami had to play the AFC title game in Pittsburgh. Back then the host sites were predetermined. It's no surprise that changed to home field advantage being given to higher seeds shortly thereafter.

This was the game. He gets the ball over the goal line, TOUCHDOWN, Steelers win the game and are in the playoffs.

If he failed, Pittsburgh has no time outs left, the clock runs out and the Ravens win. Then a Ravens win next week against the Bengals puts the Ravens (in lieu of Pittsburgh) in the playoffs.

I noticed the only Harbaugh brother with a trophy had the good sense to keep his mouth shut about the spot.
