I tried to explain it earlier but I didn't go into detail. The days of everyone having a "lane" are gone, at least at OSU and many other places.

My sons high school coaches have attended OSU clinics and were shown what OSU does on special teams by OSU. The players are not taught old school like we were to stay in a "lane". Now they have guys called "missles" and "snipers" and I forget the third. They change roles at times too. Some run straight to the ball, some are contain guys, some are filling lanes. It is not as easy as "everyone keep their lane" like you guys are trying to make it. Watch every single OSU kickoff and you will see guys leaving their "lane".

Maybe they need to go old school.

I’m guessing it isn’t really consistent, hence the inconsistent results.

thats what i see, i would equate our coverage team to a front 7 on defense. thats what it looks like to me anyway.

a lack of consistency is a form of consistency all its own :p

Yeah well he can be consistently inconsistent trying to hit it to the end zone. I am not a coach, so my IMO isn’t even worth the data I’m keypunching, but I just have a hard time understanding why Meyer doesn’t move back to the standard approach considering the results we have from the current approach.

    Bestbuck36 It's a brand new Day!!

It's pretty simple. Meyer demands excellence at every position. When they don't kick it perfect within the 5 yard line and inside the left hash, they aren't perfect. So, his idea of what they can do is diminished. We have the athletes to get down the field and dominate so we should just be kicking three yards deep and bumrushing the kick and killing everything in sight. Meyer wants it cornered and at the goal line. Kick the MF'er to the goal line and kick ass. Thats all he's going to be satisfied with.

Personally, perfect is exactly what I want my coach to expect. You can bet Nick Saban is asking the same thing from his kids and that's why he's won so many championships.

I love Blake by the way, I think he should be the guy already. He has potential to Nuge college football for the next few years.

Really liked what I saw from Blake today. Anyone hear what prompted the switch?

Hope he earned himself the starting kicker for FG’s because I never have confidence in a 40+ yarder with naurenberger.
