Police/Legal Blotter (stop breaking the law, asshole!)

I hate seeing kids waste talent. Why do you need to distribute grass when you have a full ride at a major D-1 school. It also seems like half the kids that become good athletes come from horrible backrounds hence curtis martin, jerome bettis, warrick dunn, and just about every other running back in the nfl.

Actually Jerome Bettis came from a stable, 2 parent household. Not everyone from Detroit is ghetto....Warrick Dunn's mom was a cop who was killed in the line of duty-don't make stupid assumptions like these....

Aggies recruit charged with raping 13-year-old girl

New Mexico State University has pulled the scholarship for incoming WR Cornell Burbage II following his arrest on charges of raping a 13-year-old girl.
Burbage is charged with second-degree rape and two counts of second-degree sodomy -- felonies that carry a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison, said Lt. James Curless of the Lexington Police Department. Curless said the girl checked herself in to St. Joseph East Hospital Sunday for a rape examination. It was after that exam, which typically includes a DNA test, that police identified Burbage as a suspect. Curless declined to say whether any physical evidence collected implicated Burbage.

And this guy is "Mr. Community Service" too, I'm sure he was planning on giving all stolen property he had to the needy (sort of like Robin Hood)!!!

Alabama starting linebacker Juwan Simpson was arrested Saturday by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies on charges of receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and carrying a pistol without a license. At the end of spring practice April 1, Crimson Tide coaches presented Simpson with the Derrick Thomas Community Award, named after the late ex-Alabama linebacker who was actively involved in charitable works.

• The Associated Press •
05/23/2006

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Indiana University’s top wide receiver from last season faces battery charges in what authorities said was an attack on his girlfriend and their infant son.
James Hardy appeared in Allen Superior Court Monday on misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and interference with the reporting of a crime after being arrested Friday and spending the weekend in jail. He was released Monday on $1,500 bond.
The 6-foot-7, 215-pound Hardy was Indiana’s leading receiver last season with 61 catches for 893 yards and 10 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman and was named second team all-Big Ten.
Police officers responding to a 911 call Friday evening reported finding Hardy’s girlfriend sitting in the grass across the street from her home crying. Her shirt was torn and she had reddish marks on the back of her neck, court documents said.
Hardy at first told officers that he and his girlfriend of seven years did not have a physical confrontation, but later said he pushed her when she “got into his face,” police said. Court documents also say Hardy struck the infant.
