Like someone else said, it depends on how you define "best" player. But to me, as great as a lot of those guys are and may even be at the next level, I guess I look at who would it hurt our team most to lose (I know, Best vs. Most Valuable) and I still say that person is definitely Smith (leadership, arm & legs, knowledge of the offense, ability to make that truly 'special' play).

If we lose Pitcock I believe we have enough horses to plug in and maintain a very high level on the D line though I think he may be the most NFL ready at this point.

I believe Teddy has the most God given talent and will be the highest Buckeye selected in the Draft next year, but same applies...lots of capable WRs.

Take away Pittman, which I think would hurt much more than many others might think, I still think the O Line, threat of Troy to run, and availability of the Mo's would keep us running well.

And give 'Little Animal' and Malcolm Jenkins another year and I'm sure they'd make it real tough for me not to consider them long and hard...

But it has to be Troy imo. With the attitude, determination, leadership and work ethic that he currently has I believe had he practiced 2 or more years at several other positions (safety, Rb, WR, P & K returner) he would have been an excellant player at any one of them as well. But he is truly special at QB.

We have a guy that has to be considered top three in the Heisman race right now, and could end up the best to ever play the position at the Ohio State University. I don't know that I can really consider anyone else as our "best" player over Troy Smith as long as that remains the case.

I don't think there is a 'best' player. The team as a whole IS the best player. Without the Recievers, Smith wouldn't look so good. And reverse that, the recievers wouldn't look good without Smith.

I think that the ones who throws the blocks, or makes the tackles enable the good players to make the big plays.

Maybe that is 'pollyanna' of me. But, I prefer to look at them as a team...not as a best player/players.

It seems like when you start giving players the 'best' label, then you get a bunch of individual.
