Porter Gustin (failer of PED tests)

I think he looks like a Mike too. I am sure he could pack on some lbs and play RE but he reminds me of a Katz. Big monster in the middle eating up the run. If we can some how land this one and Beckner Jr then we can probably recruit anyone we want on offense and win because no one will score and you can't lose if they don't score lol. Ouor defense may get real nasty real soon with all of these athletes we are getting on Defense.

Doesn't look too small from this pic from an earlier post
I didn't say he was too small. Just mentioned that he may be a little lean to play as a true freshman. He's a tall, long, lean body. Didn't say small. If you want this kid to play MIKE at 6-5/235# (if that is accurate) at his young age, that is a whole different ball game at the OSU level comparative to HS football in Utah. I beleive Kwon is 6-2/245#, or in that range. Very different body type at this stage than Gustin, and his PT was limited.

I hope I'm wrong, I want him to come to OSU as bad as you do, I wasn't criticizing. Again, never said he was small.

6'5", 235 is hardly "long and lean"...6'5", 205 is "long and lean". McMillan was 6'3", 235 his senior year in HS per Rivals, so the same weight with only two inches in height difference. I believe Andy Katzenmoyer was 6'5", 245 coming out of high school and he dominated from the day he set foot on the OSU campus.

That said, he won't unseat McMillan at Mike, and he won't unseat Lee or Perry either. He may get some decent PT as a true frosh behind Perry in 2015 and then take over in 2016 after Perry has graduated.

Agreed 100% with all of this. I think he could be a fine LB but due to the talent we have at both DE and LB, it makes sense to rotate him between LB and DE if he ends up here to best utilize his talents situationally. Again, the Carpenter/Thad Gibson/Nate Williams role seems ideal for him. Plus our LB class this year and last makes him more ideal on the DL most of the time.

Deadlifts 545 with no straps. That's pretty insane for anyone let alone a 17 year old kid. Marotti has a lot to work with here.

Good Lord, he's impressive.
