Possibly moving to Columbus

Senior
So I was just offered a job in Columbus today, but am unsure if I will be taking it. It will be a 4 hour move for me, which isn't so bad, but the big thing is finding an apartment complex that will work with me to move in. I've been unemployed for 7 months, so the cash required to get the apartment is going to be tough to come up with up front.

Does anyone know of any apartment complexes that are willing to work with you that isn't on the west side of high street?

EDIT:

I will be working at Nationwide Insurance, working at their 2 datacenters in Columbus. One is on the north side, one is on the south side. The one complex I had looked at and really like is Heathermoor, located just outside Dublin, they offer a $99 deposit, but rent is a bit higher at $720/month, plus they are about 1 minute from a LifeTime Fitness that is absolutely amazing.

Are you looking for low security deposit? Where are you working in Columbus?

Without more details it is hard to provide specific help - but, in general it still seems like a good time to strike a deal on rental property in and around Columbus.

Plug this link into your browser and see some of the offers, basically, there's still an abundance of rental inventory and (despite some rises in rental rates) getting punters into the apartments remains a goal. So, it is all negotiable.

Take a weekend - if your prospective employer allows - come down and look around.

BTW, congratulations on proving that folks can get a job even in the teeth of a poor economy.

Yes, as I have been told by basically every person I've talked to that crime is much higher on the west side of Columbus, specifically west of High St.

North of downtown I don't think that's true at all. When you hit Clintonville it's all pretty nice. Too far east and you're north 4th, cleveland ave which is hood.

Agree.. whoever said that must have been talking specifically about downtown.

I'm actually pretty sure that east of High Street is far worse when you get to south campus.

Nationwide uses tons of consultants, especially in IT. If you cannot find a place that will work with you talk to one of the HR/Recruiting people at NW. They have corporate housing arrangements all over the place and could probably set you up in a place short term until you could bank a few paychecks. That would also give you some time to figure out what part of town you want to live in. I think Dublin is nice, but not too convenient to the south side, rush hour would suck from there going both ways.

If you are looking to stay close to downtown, like some have mentioned, Clintonville is pretty nice. But if you don't mind the drive Dublin or New Albany (NE of Cbus). Like you've heard don't go too far east or west side, or you'll hit the good ol "G"

East of N 4th is rough and east of 71 is a bad area of town.

It sounds like if he's working south and north of town he'd need something close to the highway
