Fucking Beau Bishop, man. Look, I love Dwayne Haskins. He was amazing as a Buckeye. It was really weird that Joe Burrow left and it didn’t really bother us because Haskins had such success. But Bishop is talking like Haskins was this savior of the OSU football program and kind of insinuating what a disaster it would’ve been if he hadn’t been here.

No, dumbass, if not for Haskins then Joe Burrow would have been the starting QB. You know, the guy who won the Heisman, won a national championship, and took the fucking Bengals to the Super Bowl. That probably wouldn’t have hurt recruiting. And if Burrow had been given the starting job, Haskins still would have been around to take over the job the next year. Maybe it means Justin Fields wouldn’t have transferred here, but it wouldn’t mean CJ Stroud wouldn’t have committed. Bishop is suggesting that Ryan Day might not even be the OSU coach if not for Dwayne Haskins. Oh and there was that horrible loss to Purdue but he just glossed right over that. Jesus, dude. I get that you’re trying to sell an appealing story to a Buckeye audience but dial it down a notch.

THIS:
Jason Wright, former NFL running back and president of the Washington Commanders, shared his thoughts on Brandt’s statement by tweeting, “There is a pervasive, trite and false narrative about athletes, especially NFL and NBA, that great athleticism cannot come with great intellect and character. It subjugates men, pushing the idea that they are worth nothing apart from the arena. It has deep roots and it’s harmful.”

“They don’t want to pay for your health insurance when you’re done,” Wilcox says. “They don’t want to care for your broken bones. They don’t care about your torn ligaments. The surgeries you have while you are playing for them, they don’t care. All they care about is what they can do to get you on the field to help them win. They want you to make them more money and continue to bring in billions of dollars to the organization.”

It was left to other athletes and those who knew and loved Haskins to step in and remind us that we didn’t lose a football player this weekend, we lost a person. Steelers linebacker TJ Watt remembered that Haskins “was always making people smile, never taking life for granted.” His head coach Mike Tomlin said that Haskins “was one of our hardest workers, both on the field and in our community”

I don't give 2 shits about that now. 6 months a year or more down the road sure talk about legacy and argue that. Now a young man is dead and it's time for those around him to grieve. It's time to celebrate the person he was by all accounts.. Not worry about what his legacy may or may not be on the field..

This one hits hard. I lost my mom suddenly in ‘18 and my only consolidation was I spoke to her the night before and told her I loved her.

I am literally in the hospital with my mother right now. We aren't expecting the end soon, but it is coming.

I lost my mom 6 months ago tomorrow. It's a void that never closes.

And that is what hurts. We all know Dwayne because of his recruitment story and his time on the field at OSU. But he was way more than that to our entire community. I am not even acknowledging the outside bullshit because none of those people have a remote understanding of what Dwayne meant to people aside from being an athlete. Thankfully Ohio State is paying proper homage to Dwayne as both a person and an athlete, in that order, or at least it seems.
