QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

I suspect he may transfer if things do not change. Maybe not, just my suspicion. I know I would. Many thought he may go pro this year, until the season unfolded and Beck made him look less than mediocre. He is possibly losing millions because I don't see him having a snowballs shot in hell getting drafted at the moment.
He's not going anywhere. That's ludicrous.

Exactly and if our staff stays the same then JT better go to Texas where he can get the mentoring that he needs. It's a crime what our hiring decisions did to JT and if we don't fix it for him I hope JT take matters into his own hands

He's too good to throw for 60% completion for 2000 yards in 14 games all the while running the ball 30 times a game once November comes around.

Sure we may be "doing what's necessary" to win the game at that instance but it does NOTHING for future development for our QB. These QBS of our need to be able to throw the ball against competent defenses and by running our quarterbacks 30 times in these instances it does nothing but stunt their growth making the next time we face a good defense once again a [Mark May] show of unbalanced offense.

So I say if we don't get you help JT then go somewhere where you'll throw the ball and run when you HAVE to. Do what's best for you because you've always done what's best for your team.

If you have a premier pitcher in baseball and the pitching coach who was working with him goes to another team, and you get a new pitching coach, and the premier pitcher starts to perform at a lower lever, then the answer is obvious. Get a new pitching coach.

IMO the only significant improvement he needs is arm strength... and I guess I'm not convinced you can change that much after being a D1 QB 4 years already
You can't give him a Cardale cannon
I do not think that people give Cardale for our National Championship run.. I think that if JT had not been injured we would have never made that run. JT is a real Buckeye and a true leader but I do not think that he is a all around QB. Sorry. That is just how I feel.

He's never going to be Cardale in that regard, but if you look at his passing in 2014, we were all thrilled and considered him a vast improvement over Braxton and Pryor in that regard. The amount of regression under Beck in JT's throwing and decision making has been horrendous. If Wilson and Day can just give us 2014 JT back, I'll be thrilled.

Reminds me of OSU hockey when Markell took a couple of sure fire NHL players in Umberger and Steckell and made them worse each successive year.

Did we watch the same player? I'd say that was the least of his problems. What hurt him was his timing, pocket awareness, and accuracy. Those can all be improved with a better coach. Exhibit A: 2014 with Tom Herman

I can't get the two very underthrown deep balls that both would have been TDs... out of my mind
and the overthrow to a wide open Samuels at the 5 that was picked off
but most upsetting was that all three were LOBBED
that's 21 points

PS I sincerely love what he has done... but I have a perception that an arm and wheels are two traits that are hard to change considerably

barrett's downfield accuracy was certainly subpar this season, but one play from the fiesta bowl sticks out to me. it was 3rd down near midfield. jt scrambled a bit in the pocket while looking for an open receiver and ultimately ate the ball. i was miffed because it didn't make sense not to mcsorley the ball deep, giving the covered receiver a chance to make a play or draw a flag. barring a good return, the worst result would have been an arm-punt interception.

of course, my contempt for barrett eating the ball assumed that there were deep receivers to begin with. i mean, receivers are taught to release downfield when the qb scrambles, right? at least one of them, right? however, when the replay was shown from the angle behind the line, the 4+ receivers were just standing there facing barrett. covered and stationary. it's like they all ran curls and decided to sit down. pathetic.

edit: here are the screenshots. it was 3rd-and-7 from clemson's 48. naturally, throughout the course of the play, all the recievers remain with 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.

edit 2: whoever that receiver is on the far left (brown?)... what a waste he is. was he the designated pick-6 option?
