QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

Let me add that, while I in no way disrespect the backups in line to take his place, I would hate to be the poor slob who gets the job. No pressure there!
Barrett's ceiling is considerably lower than Haskins as a passer, but it's an absolute guarantee that Dwayne will have a LOT more negative plays (without even considering whether OSU truly has a LT ready to protect him given the Alabi stuff).

Barrett is a wizard at transforming 7-10 yd losses into -2 to 2 yd gains (if not much more). He didn't have the arm or athleticism of Braxton, Pryor but was magnitudes greater at managing the pocket. It cost him some downfield vision but it helped them live for another down instead of being virtually guaranteed to punt after a 3rd and 17 coming up.

Which is why it will be so interesting to see what we do this off season... I really like someone like Martell has a good shot to come out with the starting role.

i know this should be in a different thread but it keeps getting brought up but unless something drastic happens Martell will not be the starter for at least the first half of the season next year.

Simple reason why, as much as it’s a competition Urban isn’t going to put his QB depth at that much risk. If he names Martell the starter before mid season both Burrrows and Haskins are gone leaving a true freshman as your only backup. Not gonna happen. Maybe mid way through the season but I doubt it.

This young man has had a special place in my heart for some time. The first "The Game" that I got to experience in my life was 2014. When he went down, the collective breath just left the stadium. He gets carted off... AND THEN THE DUDE COMES OUT AND SITS IN THE STANDS TO WATCH HIS BROTHERS WIN "THE GAME"! Bad ass man right then, right there! Special human being.

JT out in the #ichigan game again. Don't know if he is coming back, but I think we can all agree that this was another one of those frustrating Barrett games. I don't know how the greatest QB in Buckeye history can be so frustrating.

"Ongoing meniscus issues." I never imagined having your QB run 15 times a game could have any drawbacks.

Kind of more impressed now. Kid has had "ongoing Meniscus problems" and still has been able to go out there every week with the game plan evidently trying to get him killed. I think the game plan issues are two fold:

One, JT is a winner and he wants the ball and the team on his shoulders, every good winner does. At times he tries to do too much where he should rely on his guys to both run and catch instead of him trying to do it all.

Two, They run an actual Ohio State run-first offense with great skill players, with the other QBs in! We have awesome RBs and a really good Oline core, yet we call some of the dumbest plays ever. Hand it off and go play action taking the weight off of JT. They did it with Haskins and he looked really good doing it.

Kid is solidified as the GOAT in my mind at OSU QB. 4-0 vs *ichigan and all of the most important records. Add in the fact that each time he's gone down with injury, he's been a main cheerleader for his replacement. Special special kid.
