A long wait on the sidelines is finally paying off for Ohio State QB Joe Bauserman

"He's a cool guy," Buckeyes tackle J.B. Shugarts says of senior QB Joe Bauserman (14, celebrating his touchdown run Saturday against Akron). "People like him. He is a lot better athlete than people give him credit for."

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Imagine a second chance at a second chance, getting at age 25 the shot you'd never thought would come. That's Ohio State quarterback Joe Bauserman.

"You just have to imagine playing behind Terrelle Pryor, being a backup. It's gotta be hard not expecting to ever play, really," Ohio State center Michael Brewster said.

After completing 12 of 16 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns, he's now one week into the season as the third-rated passer in major college football, the toast of the Buckeye fan base, and the focus of good-natured Heisman hyperbole on Twitter. Bauserman must be so excited he's ready to go out and maybe ... mow his grass.

"Mowing, it's not as fun as it seems," Bauserman said Tuesday. "I have to do it, I guess."

His Presser really reveals what a laid back sort of person he is. He appears to be a real team player and just happy to be a part of what is going down. He
is finally getting an opportunity to show all of us what he can do. His enthusiasm really show on the field. His leadership will start to take shape. It's just a matter of time.

Despite the official site and the media guide containing guidelines on pronouncing Joe's name, I think they are giving incorrect instructions. It's not Bow-ser-man, but the way Joe says it is like this:

Baw-zer-man or Bause-er-man - I'm hearing the first part rhyming with 'cause'.

They are saying to pronounce it as 'BAH', as in 'bah, humbug' ('BAH-zer-man'), and that's not how Joe pronounces it himself. But at least it's closer than Bow-ser-man. :tongue2:

Let the controversy continue!

What really does get the feeling that this guy is a lot like Craig Krenzel. The two quarterback system may present teams a lot of problems. Normally, I don't like it. This year, I think I do.

I think since we have the personnel and the schemes to execute both types of offenses (the I formation and the spread) we can afford to have a two-QB and work it successfully.

I had a senior capstone class with the guy, sat next to him for an entire quarter, and he was in my presentation group... trust me, it's baw-zer-man... oh, and the professor called him Joseph the entire class, which was kinda humorous... we gave him [mark may] for missing meetings for spring practice, but now I'm glad he went
