QB Joe Burrow (transfer to LSU, 2019 Heisman Winner, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

If Burrow had been named the starter, Haskins wasn't going anywhere. A prick like me would've named Burrow the starter for that reason alone. :sneaky:

But yeah, if Haskins gets injured it's going to be interesting to see what happens. But it'll be more interesting if he stays on the field.
If Burrow was named the starter, Dwayne has to decide whether to sit for 4 of his 5 years in college, because the NFL is not likely to beg Joe to declare next spring. There's also the matter of how well QBs do in the NFL with only one year of PT.

It was a fairly safe bet that the loser was transferring, regardless of the nomination. Now if JT had gone down last year, and Burrow was entering year 2 as a starter in 2018, that might be a different choice for Dwayne.

Arguably the best QB? Really? So you saw him in live games? Have you been there in practice too?

Let's not forget that had Joe not broken his wrist right before the season, we likely would have seen him come in against scUM instead of Haskins. The separation between #2 & #3 was razor thin at that time, so yeah, I would say you could make the argument either way. I also would have given a slight edge to Joe in regards to their performances in the spring game as well.

There wasn't a #2 or #3 at the time of Joe's injury. Which is interesting because if Joe was the clear #2 in the spring of last year, like the coaches said he was, but he wasn't the clear #2 during fall camp, I'd take that to mean Dwayne was gaining on him anyway and would've probably passed him. That's speculation on my part, but I do clearly remember coaches saying there was no #2 or #3 right before he got injured.

Really would like to see him go to any big-time program and crush it...with the exception of Nebraska. LSU would be particularly intriguing. I wonder if Urban would block him from going anywhere (Nebraska seems like the only one he'd bother with).

Pretty sure a grad transfer cannot be blocked from enrolling at a particular school.

I wasn't sure about that either, but an 11W article on the situation suggested that Urban could.

...
It’s also possible that Ohio State could block Burrow from transferring to Nebraska, considering that the Cornhuskers are set to play the Buckeyes in each of the next two seasons.

he said ARGUABLY... and since people have been arguing it for months I would say it is clearly arguable.
I can argue the Earth is flat all week but it's not really a credible argument. Fact is that Burrow has close to ZERO meaningful game time snaps. His most impressive feat to date is tearing up half a starting defense in a glorified scrimmage. Haskins, in probably the most high pressure stakes an OSU QB could face that isn't a national championship game, tore up the same Top 3 Michigan defense that Barrett was struggled with for 2.5 quarters. If I remember correctly he also graded out with an absurdly high QBR. I mean that pretty much gives him a significant leg up the competition no?
