QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

Not even one game in and I'm already tired of this guy running his cockholster incessantly.

Yeah, Kirk. Fucking everybody is looking at the guy's knee to see if he was down. If somebody is watching a game between Purdue and Northwestern on a Thursday night in August, I think it's pretty goddamn safe to assume the viewer understands the concept of being down.

Then don't listen to him. What should he talk about? What the hell are you Herbie haters wanting from this guy?

I get it.. lay off the ears pinned back, moxie, and playing in space. I just don't know what some of you expect from a commentator?

Afterall, it can ALWAYS be so much worse with who's calling games.

Just because it could be worse (debatable) doesn’t mean he can’t be called out on his shittiness.

I want a commentator who knows more about the game than I do and can offer insight beyond what I already can tell just from watching the game. And if you can't offer anything new or interesting, it's okay to be quiet. I swear they all just talk incessantly about absolutely nothing.

I know I'm never going to get it from 98% of the commentators, but it doesn't feel like an unreasonable request that these people that are supposed to be providing insight/commentary would offer something more than patently obvious cliches and blather.

And I'll be honest....there is no commentator I enjoy less than herbstreit. He simply never shuts up.

Can we clone Tony Romo? The guy figured it out in his first game. Herbie still hasn’t.
See everyone likes Romo... I don't really care for him. Obviously he knows a shit load and it shows but I don't want someone always telling me where the ball is going.

As for Herbie not being knowledgeable... that's not his job. His job is to entertain and to fill dead air which he does with his ears pinned back. Also i highly doubt you (or any of us for that matter) know more about football then Herbie. He played at THE ohio state and thats something i doubt any of us here have done besides on xbox/playstation.

His job isn't to educate the viewers with this fantastic football mind. His job is to talk and create discussion.

Not trying to be a dick either... I personally just dont give a fuck who is calling our games. I just like to see the S&G.

Can he fill dead air with things that aren’t stupid? Is that a lot to ask? I turned it on late in the 2nd to listen to him question if a play should have been a TD when the ball clearly never got past the 1. Clear as day in live play, there was no score. This guy has replay and 30 different angles and he still doesn’t know.

Herbstreit's job IS to provide knowledgeable insights into a game. That is exactly what he implies chronically. The problem is that one look around your living room after he presents a game and all you see is this:

I thought it was funny when he said the Washington/Auburn game was the most interesting one this weekend. My immediate thought was, “oh, Notre Dame/Michigan must be on a different network than ABC/ESPN.”

It’s a small example of how Herbstreit is a network shill, but for an Ohio native and Ohio State graduate, the Notre Dame/Michigan game is obviously the most interesting one this weekend.

Now some contrarian please tell me why fucking Washington/Auburn is interesting, and please heavily rely on meaningless preseason rankings.

Are you fucking kidding me?

SEC speed vs PAC 12 speed? I mean there is speed and then there is SEC speed but then again, whenever Ohio State plays anyone from the PAC12 we are reminded of how much speed the PAC12 teams posses so my mind is just simply blown at the amount of speed that will be on display.

The only thing that could make it better would be if we had Herbie calling the game to tell us about speed for 3 1/2 straight hours.

Not to mention, those SEC guys look good in a uniform, while those PAC12 guys are the first one's off the bus. While each conference plays well in space, when it comes to pinning ears back you can't find a better conference than the SEC.. The PAC12's premium on QBs with Moxie, however, could prove to be the difference.

Yeah but who runs the best mesh routes? According to last nights game, that determines the winner every time.

Have we forgotten the first rule of physicality?
