QB Lincoln "Dakota" Kienholz (Official Thread)

For sure, sample size of 1 is not enough. Not even close. Burrow could very well be the lone exception over the years.

But the translation I'm talking about isn't from practice to game. I'm talking about will the staff allow a guy (like, for example Lincoln) get into a game and really show his stuff when he's not necessarily killing it in practice.

In other words - sample size of one notwithstanding - what was Burrow NOT doing in practice when he was wearing the scarlet and grey that JT or Fields or whoever was? Or is it just a case that Burrow didn't have the same competition to face, in practice, at LSU?

My question is: what are kids expected to do or show in practice that Burrow wasn't showing when he was at OSU to earn him a starting job so he can go show his stuff in an actual game. Is the expectation hand-cuffing some generational talents? At QB or other positions... it's not about what a guy can do on the field. It's about whether they can show whatever during practice that somebody like Burrow wasn't able to show when he was in Columbus.

Not sure how else to ask. And, yes... it's a whole lot of what-if speculation.
You're right though in that this staff does seem to hold players out of games if they're not ultra ready. I don't agree with it but what can you do lol...

Nobody does. And with the portal there are quick remedies to find plan A at another location. But if he wants to stay, he could have options.
At any rate, I'm excited to see his progress after watching his game yesterday. Arguably the best QB overall yesterday so it'll be interesting to see where he goes after a year with coach Day and Dennis.

He broke his hand right before the season started.

A fact that 95% of Ohio State "fans" ignore. I am a broken record educating people on this. Even if we named Burrow starter, he couldn't start because of his injury.

As to Lincoln, he'll fight for the job, he's got it in him. Can't wait to see this spring game.

He wont be playing in this one unfortunately. He's also all-state in Basketball and Baseball so he's playing those sports too for his High School. I love that about him actually. Stay a kid as long as possible

Yes exactly... he's not starting this year even if he comes in early. So stay in school and enjoy yourself. Goes too fast to speed things up.

Let the kid be a kid. He's gonna sit the pine for next 2-3 years anyway, so he'll have plenty of time to absorb the QB knowledge that Day espouses. Agree he has talent, will watch him utilize it against the athletes that tOSU has now. Hopefully he can get used to be not idolized as he was in SD. His competition against a different level of talent in SD probably isn't at a level of what he'll face, so yeah, let him enjoy his senior year. Welcome to the bigs Lincoln. You will be welcomed with open arms....go Bucks!
