QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

He'll never get a chance just like Scotty McMullen never got the chance to win us a few big games, right? Zwick could go down at any moment in any game and suddenly Smith would be starting for a top10 team in the country.

besides, he's on a team and from everything i've read, he's happy where he's at. yes, he wants to start, but he realizes how nice he has it...

"If I be humble in every way that I can, then good things will come to me. But then again you have to sit back and think. What I wear on my chest is an Ohio State jersey, not a Troy Smith jersey. You know, I don't have my own university, Ohio State is the team that I play for." - Troy Smith
does this sound like someone who's looking out for himself and ignoring the team? i think not.

of course, if he does want to transfer... he's more than welcome to come play at Malone.

If he went to another 1A school he would have to sit out next year and only get 1 year to play. Between that, 1AA, and backing up at OSU I'd choose OSU. If he does leave I would expect it would be to 1AA because there is no use having to sit out another year. If he was going to go 1A it would have been smart to get out before this season started so that he could play next year.

"Soul", nice comment on the skin tone. Verrrrrrrrrrrry "intelligent" in your own right. LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Heh--that's my signature. It's not meant to be degrading toward you in any way. It was just a quote I took off another msg board a while ago and liked. I like your post, actually.

Plus--I'm not to be taken seriously very often, if at all.

be honest, would you transfer out??? he obviously is never going to get a real opportunity to be the man at osu. a qb can practice every day, all day, but until he gets game action he will never truly develop. holding a clipboard for four years isn't going to benefit Smith if he wants to play at the next level. what would you do? transfer to a small school and play immediately? transfer to a bowling green or kent st., sit out a year, and then start for two years?? look at what brock berlin has done by transferring out of florida. smith already has his gold pants, varsity lettermans jacket, and a nc ring....personally, i'd be out of there asap if i were Smith.

If you truly felt that way, then your ass needs to be at another program. Not everyone can be the starter at Ohio State...we don't need selfish players at Ohio State. Fortunately, from what we've seen so far, Troy isn't a crybaby and will keep himself prepared to assume the role of starter should Justin either get hurt or his performance decline. Troy has three more years to prove himself.

If he has the stuff to play at the next level, or realistically thinks he does based on the opinion of the "right" people (read - not MoC's advisors), he should take off to the best possible "playing" situation, take a year to really understand the system there and go balls out the following season. Plenty of qbs have gotten solid looks in the pros based on one year starting. Not many get the shot with no starting experience, even if they rode the bench for tOSU.

I thought we would not go into threads like this when most of us decided to join into "BuckeyePlanet". Over in bucknuts we were constantly fed up to here in threads of the nature like "Krenzel vs McMullen" - Germaine vs Jackson,Bellisri vs Krenzel and on and on. But here we go again with shit like this. Okay I agree its just conversation and all that stuff but come on, where in the hell does this get us. I,ll bet if Zwick was to be injured in a game then you would be happy as hell to see Troy Smith come in and get his chance to show what he can do.

Somebody has to start and someone has to sit. And the choice right now is Justin Zwick. It is only the 4th game of the season and here we are debating weather Troy should transfer because he is not getting a chance to play.

I remember when alot of you were all pissed because Irazarry was not getting a chance to play in 2003 and when he got in there he dropped a couple of passes and he was pulled from the line-up and sat down. The same damn thing could happen to Troy Smith but WE do not not that. For goodness sake people, please don't be so judgemental at such a early stage of these 2 very fine football players. leave them alone. Just let them play football and let coach Tressel decide thier fate.
