QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

My son in law is a Californian and 49'ers fan. I think he lives peacefully with my Buckeye fan daughter. Troy Smith has brought a new level of happiness to their marriage :slappy:

Alex Smith ready this week? You bet. He can see the writing on the wall like everyone else.

Ditka picked the 9ers to win their division yesterday. If that happens with Troy at the helm; then I think that he would also be viewed positively by whatever coaching staff is there next year.

If the 49ers come back and win their division, then i would be pretty confident we would see Singletary back next year as head coach. Troy playing well and winning games for the rest of the season would not only secure his spot with the 49ers for the near future, but Singletary's as well.

Didn't get to see the game until watching the you tube highlights. :yow1: With all the penalties that the team had to overcome, Troy still got the team in position to win and that speaks volumes about his character and ability to be a leader.

He's just getting it done, by any means possible. It's great to see him out there doing his thing again and he looks pretty sharp in San Fran Scarlet too!

Player revolt looming in San Fran?

The 49ers have no choice but to start Troy Smith. If they don't, players will revolt. Here's what Delanie Walker said about Smith. "It's like we are in the back yard and we're kids again and the street lights are about to come on and our moms are about to come out and we need to win this game and we got one play in us. I feel that's how he is. We are going to take it to the limit. He throws the deep ball, he takes chances." Shawntae Spencer: "I'm excited about him. We're all excited about him."

Love it. :osu:

Troy Smith earns another start for 49ers in Week 11

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- The San Francisco 49ers are 2-0 during the Troy Smith era, and coach Mike Singletary isn't about to mess with a good thing.
Singletary said Monday that Smith will remain the team's starting quarterback this week against Tampa Bay even though Alex Smith is healthy and cleared to play for the first time since separating his left shoulder Oct. 24
It wasn't a very difficult decision. Troy Smith has directed the 49ers to their first winning streak of the season after having one of the most prolific games by a San Francisco quarterback in the past six years.
Troy Smith passed for a career-high 356 yards Sunday to spark a 23-20 overtime victory against the St. Louis Rams, guiding the 49ers on a dramatic touchdown drive in the final minutes of regulation to keep San Francisco's postseason hopes alive.
"He's had a big part in us winning these last two games, and you want to keep that going and see how much is there," Singletary said. "Our team understands that I'm going to go with the guy that is winning right now, the guy that has the hot hand and has made the difference in the past two weeks."

49ers Review: Troy Smith Airs it Out
Matt Maiocco
CSNBayArea.com

Offensive coordinator Mike Johnson called a good game Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, as the 49ers averaged 7.1 yards per offensive play.

There were several new wrinkles. There was a misdirection pitch to Frank Gore in overtime that helped them get some big yards at the beginning of overtime. And there was ample use of the Delanie Walker in two-TE sets, as he played half of the 49ers' offensive snaps.

Many will also came away from the game saying, "The 49ers finally called some deep passes." After all, the 49ers completed eight passes of 21 yards or more -- with five of those plays exceeding 30 yards.

Johnson deserves credit for that, but I'm not so sure it was because he called a different type of game. The credit for that goes to quarterback Troy Smith, who seems much more willing to let the ball fly down the field.

There were several pass plays -- including two plays on which defensive pass-interference penalties gained the 49ers 38 and 22 yards -- that Alex Smith has always seemed reluctant to throw.

The biggest difference between Alex and Troy Smith is that Alex seeks order and structure, while Troy seems to relish chaos and improvisation.
