QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I'll be rooting for Troy heavy for the rest of the year and I'm confident he's going to have more good moments than bad.

If it's true that the 49ers can't give up on Alex Smith because of his big contract, then let's at least hope Troy gets traded to a team that's willing to make him The Man. How about the Vikings, huh?

Well, there are a lot of teams that would probably like to have him.

I hope I can see their game this Sunday, with Alex Boone and Troy and Teddy G all on the field together.

I have to laugh at the common man and torg whining about how well Troy has been playing. You'd think Troy banged their wives or something by the way they are tearing this guy down who finally has gotten his chance in the NFL and is playing so well.

Worst part about it is that they start their show off by saying "Now, we fess up when we're wrong, we own up to it...society is a blame other people type, while we man up to ours!"

And then they proceed to tear down a guy who is now starting to prove himself in the league. But, what else should we expect when a non-OSU fan plays partner with a BuckNut Master Poster?

That show is garbage. It can't be said enough.

You know what makes me laugh ... ? I probably make more at my job than the "Common Man" and "The Torg" make at theirs, and I also probably know more about sports, which isn't my full-time job.

Be nice, guys. If WBNS hadn't given these guys a job they'd have to make do at the sheltered workshop. Those hand-tooled leather goods are nice and all, but demand is limited.

Alex Smith is a free agent after this year, so they don't care if he succeeds or not at this point. They just want someone to succeed. Alex Smith took a pay cut last year too.

Seeing Troy look around and the team honing in on his voice... The guy just has a 'commanding' type presence about him. You can tell his teammates are listening to every word.

That's a quarterback folks...

Yes, but more importantly, that's a leader folks.

He's been with the team for how long and he's already the guy they all look to. Love it. Go Troy.

NFL: Troy Smith revives career in Bay
Published: Thursday, November 18, 2010
By Janie McCauley
Associated Press

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) ? Troy Smith's career easily could have been derailed two years ago during a frightening, monthlong bout with Lemierre syndrome, a rare and potentially fatal disease that began as a tonsil infection and progressed to his bloodstream.

He lost 40 pounds and had trouble breathing for 21⁄2 weeks. This all happened just before Baltimore's third preseason game in 2008, and the 2006 Heisman Trophy winner wasn't medically cleared to resume light workouts again until mid-September.

"Having the ability to breathe taken away from you for however long it was definitely is scary," said Smith, of Ohio State and Glenville High School. "It definitely put a new perspective on life and what life is really about, and even though we love this game, it's just that. It's still a game and life is so much more precious, there's so much more going on."
