Wow, this guy is a real fucking winner. Cowardice? How about spouting crap out your piehole about everyone else being afraid while you are sitting behind a desk at the AG office? Yet another one of Obama's appointed losers. Way to bring things forward, boss! :shake:

" As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except Negroes." When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except Negroes and foreigners and Catholics." When it comes to this, I shall prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretense of loving liberty - to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure and without the base alloy of hypocrisy."

More words of wisdom from a past President. As long as some try to deny the basic rights of others in this country, any talk of how great a country we are, will be a lie.

Taos, I do not believe that the playing field is completely level in America, but it is more level than just about anywhere.

Racism remains a problem in the eyes of many people who are not white. Talking openly about that would be a great start to healing the problem to which you refer.

However, I am reminded of Obama's comments that it also is time that Americans talk about responsibilities. To behave in ways that do not cause harm to others or cause you to live on welfare they provide. To bring children into the world into stable homes, show them love, get them off the television and electronic game addiction, and educate them.

Any discussion that stereotypes one group as racist and the other as oppressed on the basis of race, without discussing the responsibilities we all have as children of the same God and acknowledging everyone's contributions to the problem you describe, is doomed to fail.

I know you did not intend to paint Whites with a single brush, but it is high time that we show the same political correctness toward White males that we show toward all others. Lots of folks are sick of walking into a room and feeling like prison escapees, just because they happen to be middle-aged White males.

Title of thread IS "Race in America".
Never was it(race as an issue) more evident of the racism in America when this past election we saw rooms with mostly white guys supporting a candidate. And a vice-presidential candidate walking a very fine line in name calling and inciting a hanging mentality.

I am so sick of hearing every 5 days that Americans need to have a more open discussion on race. We need an open dialogue on race, we need more talks on race...etc
Tell me, how do you expect these talks to end? What's the net result of these talks? I have a pretty good idea that these aren't really gonna be discussions on race - but more of a 2 hour lecture offering excuse after excuse and a whole helluva lot of finger pointing.
From where I'm sitting - the calls for these talks don't end until repirations are paid. That's the end result. Create an national dialogue that so aggresively paints white, middle class persons of faith as racist and guilty that the only reasonable response is paying repirations for something that took place 200 years ago to make them shut the hell up.

**Steve this is not, not, not, an attack on you - just a vent in general.

I am always willing to engage in serious talks with blacks , but everytime I tell them that more of them just need to get an education , a job and try to make something out of themselves besides dealing drugs they don't want to talk. :(
