RB Bri'onte Dunn (dismissed from team)

I just love this sort of unsupported, pessimistic misery.

No, seriously, I really do love it. Makes me appreciate my own optimism all the more.

Well, unless you can read the mind of a 17-year-old, it's all pretty much speculation. I'm just looking at the history. When is the last time Ohio State had a soft verbal that signed with Ohio State?

It's like getting engaged and continuing to date other people. You're probably not going to marry the other person.

And I really like Dunn. I'm watching LaGarrette Blount tear up the Packers' defense yesterday and thinking, "That's Brionte Dunn." And then I thought, that's Michigan's new running back. Call it pessimism. But I think the writing on the wall couldn't be any more clear.

In my imo, I don't care all that much where he ends up. I care more about our OL/DL situation than any other position. Do I think he's a special back? He might be. He can certainly tote the rock a lot. I wouldn't say that I KNOW he's a special back. He wants to go to scUM then he'll go, I'm sure he'll enjoy it except on one Saturday every November. I think he'd look great at tOSU as well. He just fits a Big Ten offense.

Ohio State has never had problems finding high quality running backs. And with all our turmoil It doesn't bother nor surprise me that scUM is going to be able to get quality Ohio recruits this year. Seems like every recruit they snag is going to be the 'savior' of the program. Hard not to get all revved up with that type of recruiting plus some decent on-field success.

I'm just more concerned with Kozan, Davidson, Washington etc. then I am about Dunn. Warren Ball is doing lots to alleviate some of my concern.

Urban saying nice things about a buddy & former employee when he's in the spotlight does not make them verifiable facts.
Ugh, no one said -- what's your opinion of Greg Mattison? Had it been that way, you'd be exactly correct.

Constantly bringing him up and calling him the best recruiter he's ever been around, is something very different.

Yeah, but so did Brady Hoke :)

I live in Gainesville. I have friends (enemies?) that know and have worked with the Gator football program. My roommate is good friends with Rex Grossman. My other buddy worked for the sports radio for the school. These guys know the UF football program quite well. I have never heard any of them even talk about Greg Mattison's recruiting expertise when he was at UF.

I don't honestly know anything about the situation, but I think that I'd take it with a grain of salt. While Meyer was at UF, it seems to me they had a lot of recruiting gurus. I'm sure Mattison was one among many. But from an outsiders perspective, I think its a trickle down effect from how great Meyer is at recruiting.

/rant. Back to Dunn.

Mattison is a very very good recruiter. I have no idea about how good he was in relative to other coaches at UF under Meyer, but he is an excellent recruiter and has done an excellent job for TSUN this year.

I'm hopeful Brionte sticks with his commitment and dons the S&G, but echoing the general opinion of most, this just seems to be trending away from tOSU at the current time. Kalis and others are pushing him real hard, he's going back to Michigan for a second straight weekend to take his official visit with Kalis, his reaction (Or lack thereof) to the Urban rumors, it just all seems to be trending away from the good guys.

He is a very talented back and I think he's going to be a great one. Hope he ends up in Columbus, but if he does opt to go up north I'll wish him well except for one game a year, but this program is not made or broken based on the decision of a high schooler, especially not at a position where we have another talented player committed and several talented backs already on the roster.

I agree with all of this. I just don't want him to go to Michigan.

I was being sarcastic....Urban's success is because of Urban or Ohio State would hire Mattison as head coach
