RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

Zach Boren does pretty well at fullback in my opinion. Carlos just needs to be patient.

True, but why not use TWO fullbacks??? Think about Boren AND Hyde in the backfield as FB's with Hall and Herron both in at TB. We could have the double I formation. UNSTOPPABLE!

Then, we could put Braxton under center one, and Guiton under center two. THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES! Defenses would be trying to guess which QB would get the snap, which of the four running backs would be getting the ball, or which of the 5 wide outs would be catching the pass (of course we would run 5 wide also). We would probably have to only use one tight end with all those people on the field though. Just ask Tennessee.

Hyde could do well as a "short fullback" in a pistol formation with Boom deep and Braxton a threat to run also. Misdirection and the triple-option definitely come out of that formation and those three would be very dangerous. Right now everyone knows Boren is no threat to run or catch the ball. He is a helluva a blocker though and thats why the I-formation is still the bread and butter of our offense.

We are definitely more explosive though when Braxton is on the move so more pistol formation should be implemented as soon as possible to allow for that and maintain the passing possibilities that it allows. There's no doubt in my mind that he would be at least as effective as Colin Kapernick doing it, and he was fantastic.

Ohio State notes: Herron says Hyde is ?doing a lot better now'

COLUMBUS ? The Carlos Hyde transfer watch appears to be off.

Senior running back Dan Herron said he and Hyde have "definitely talked" over the past few weeks. Hyde is Ohio State's leading rusher, with 408 yards on 78 carries, but he did not carry the ball in last week's win over Wisconsin and had only three rushes for 8 yards a week earlier at Illinois.

Following the Illinois game, Hyde tweeted, "Guess I'm not good enough. Take my talents elsewhere."

He quickly took down the post.

"I think he's doing a lot better now," Herron said.

Herron said he told Hyde of his difficult predicament as a freshman, playing behind Chris Wells, Brandon Saine and Maurice Wells.

"I told him he has a couple of years left," Herron said. "So his time is definitely going to come. He's a great running back, and he's always working hard, always doing a great job. So his time will definitely come."

Coach Luke Fickell talked about his team's crowded backfield on Tuesday, one that also includes Jordan Hall, Rod Smith and Jaamal Berry ? though Smith and Berry have clearly fallen off the radar. He likened the situation to Arkansas' backfield that included Felix Jones, Darren McFadden and Peyton Hillis.

"I'm not saying putting those guys in those categories by any means," Fickell said. "But what I'm saying is your opportunities are going to come.

"When they come, I couldn't tell him exactly. But you gotta be ready for your opportunities."

That's good to hear.

I think Boom is quickly turning into one of my all-time favorite Buckeyes.

Oh yeah, and Carlos Hyde will be an absolute beast if he has the patience and continues to work hard until it's his time (aka next season).

BOOM and Hyde are going to have a field day against the Hoosiers this Saturday...

Question is who are our returners with Hall and Berry both out?

Fields? Who else?

:osu:

Besides Fields, Philly Brown, Devin Smith and/or Boom would probably be the other return guys. Hyde could also do kickoff returns.
