RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

I think that Hyde should be the #1 featured back in this offense. The kid runs hard, blocks well, and can even play the slot decently. Hall is quick and may have more jitterbug type of moves, but Hyde seems to get more yards due to his brute force running style. Having that inside running threat helps to open up the edge for some of those swing WR screens that Urban likes to run.

Just my opinion from my recliner on a Monday morning. :wink2:

Still think they should both be featured in a pro set. TE can pull to block if it's an inside run with Hyde, or can block the corner out if it's an outside with Hall, or they both can block for Miller.

Carlos had a really solid performance on Saturday. He made a fantastic catch going up high to bring it in and then held onto the ball after being cracked in the back as a result of being exposed by going up to get the ball. He also made some key blocks throughout the game. And of course, he did an excellent job running the ball. Especially in the last 4 minutes when we needed to seal the game.

With Hall out indefinitely, Carlos is going to get his opportunity big-time and if he plays like he did against Sparty I think we will be fine.

We need someone out there besides Braxton while Hyde gets some much deserved rest on the sidelines though. Hopefully Dunn or Smith will step up

I would love to see the first offensive series against Nebraska, look like the last offensive series against MSU. Eight or ten violent collisions with the Cornhuskers
DBs to start the game would be splendid. We can rotate in Dunn and Smith to keep up the pounding. It's much harder keeping up with Devin Smith and Corey Brown after you have had the wind knocked out of you a couple of times.

Didn't a MSU played spear Gholston on Saturday, not intentionally of course?

Thats a bright idea, turn the Nebraska players against themselves. They will never see a game plane like thay.

He went for a kill shot against Miller while Gholston was tackling Miller. It looked like Miller got under the hit and the two MSU players had a helmet to helmet collision.

Yep. I said that because the final diagnosis was having the wind knocked out of him. So that met his requirements

My favorite play of the game was when Carlos caught that swing pass and it was high. He jumped and extended to catch it. The MSU corner tried to lay him out and hurt himself and had to come out of the game.

While Braxton was in the game we had no problem moving the ball last year. We are a much better team on Offense this year than we were last year. This year we will also be able to move the ball through the air.

Carlos should be a big factor in the run game on Saturday and I expect him to have a 100 yd. game.

Have a feeling Hyde is going to have a huge game. With all the attention on Miller I think the middle of the field will open up on read options. Hyde will gash them up the middle and when they start jumping that, Miller will kill them to the outside. Just hope Miller makes the right reads and takes some hits off of himself.
