I expect Carlos to be suspended.

The only thing I am 100% sure of is that if I owned a controlling interest in Channel 4, Mindy Drayer would be 100% fired.

i thought her club diagram was very accurate after watching the video...she has a future in the crop maze industry for sure

Glad this video doesn't live up to the hype.

My first inclination is that this is weak sauce. Shit happens. Wrong place, wrong time, poor decision, blah blah blah.

But like grad said, HUGE spotlight here.

I can't see dismissal from the team. Suspension for who knows how long.

Jeez what age are we in that. A middle school grade slap fight become a huge incident...

What age are we in that a he can't extricate himself from a middle school slap fight like a grown ass man? Hyde may not have swung first, but he clearly was not in a position where he was compelled to defend himself. I think he could stand to be taught a lesson on how to act like an adult.

I seems like a stupid spat in a club and yeah, he should've just walked away. He should sit for maybe 2 games and I'm sure they'll let him know that he's on very thin ice. Hopefully then they can move on from this quickly.

I don't know a single person who when it comes out of nowhere doesn't react in a retaliatory manner. Especially if the other person actually makes contact.

Now if he knew he did something to deserve it, that's a different matter. But clearly we can't tell that.

Attempting to "aggressively" move toward a girl is completely frowned upon by all males. Although nothing serious happened, if I were her father, I couldn't think very highly of Carlos Hyde.

CPD did the right thing. There is very little evidence in this video. I bet Urban sits him the first game and moves on. Agreed.

From an article on Scout:

?The case is closed. Investigators met with the victim on Saturday and during that interview she informed the investigators she didn?t want to pursue charges,? Weiner told BSB.

?We were in the middle of our investigation, and the most important part we needed was an interview with her. At that time, during that interview, that?s when she informed us that she didn?t want to pursue charges so we stopped the investigation. There is no victim at this point in the game."

Weiner said that both Hyde and the alleged victim have two years from the incident date to formally press charges if either party changes their mind. However, once the alleged victim opted not to press charges, the case was officially closed.

"One thing we had to do is interview the victim," he said. "Based upon her statements, we?d go out and interview additional witnesses and interview the accused. At this time, we were not able to do that because as soon as she said she didn?t want to pursue it, we stopped the investigation. It is officially closed.?

Though the police will not formally charge Hyde, his status with the team is still unclear.

OSU head coach Urban Meyer suspended the junior running back indefinitely when details surrounding the incident surfaced, and he said last week that he?d wait for the investigation to conclude before making any decisions.

As I see it, Urban has at his disposal the video, Carlos' explanation and perhaps the girls upcoming statement. A statement by a girl who swung first could be interesting. Perhaps it will be done in her best Roseanne Roseannadanna voice.

I have a hard time defending his actions at all. This close to the season, why even do something to fuck up all of the hard work that has been put in by everyone else.

We have all been there in our college days EXCEPT we all didn't have someone reminding us of the shit that goes down in situations like this that these players do.

I don't know what the "right" discipline is....All I know is the rest of the team does not deserve what he has brought upon them...regardless of the video.

Urban's "rules" say, "Respect women". It would seem what is implied in that is to 1) respect women - even those that aren't all that respectable 2) don't ever hit, strike, slap, push, etc a woman.

Carlos may not be in legal trouble, but he is in Urban trouble. Plus he put himself in a place where trouble occurs, he was there late, and he didn't walk away when he had the chance. What is the suspension for being a dumbass these days? I'll say 2 games.

20 year old kid with a bit of alcohol in his system gets slapped. The first thing he does is think "What were Urban's rules again? How close is the season? How hard have I worked?"

It doesn't work that way.

If there was a delay between the slap and his action I would have a different opinion. If there were any clear evidence of an intent to cause harm I would have a different opinion.

I am an old man and not hitting women is ingrained in my bones. But if I got slapped out of nowhere I can't promise my amygdala wouldn't get the jump on my frontal cortex.

Not saying he wasn't in the wrong. But there are degrees of things.

I hope my fate never depends on interpretation of a Rorschach video.

Not talking about a guy that beat up his girlfriend in their apartment. He's not a woman-beater.

It's a club, girl swings, he reacts, she overreacts. Whatever.

Oh, and I haven't even watched the video.

Maybe you should actually watch the video before you throw your two cents in.
