RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Do you wish for him to come back even if he'd like to go pro at this point?

Yeah, and I agree that it's selfish...but it's not hurting anyone. I guess that's the point I wanted to make.

I want Beanie to do what he believes is best for him. I just don't see how wishing that he decides another year at tOSU is what's best for him is selfish. I may not be making much sense, as I drank a lot last night, and have only had three hours sleep.

One other think that someone mentioned recently that I had not thought of. These days, a true career ending injury is very rare. A completely blown out knee takes about a year to rehab, and then your ready to go, and that's about as bad as it gets. The risk of coming back is not nearly what it used to be, even 15 years ago.

It's still a risk, and a damn expensive one at that.

Plus they can take out insurance on themselves. It helps alleviate any kind of injury worry IMHO.

the question is whether he'd miss the current nfl bargaining agreement and the outlandish signing bonuses (which they're trying to reduce) if he doesn't go pro this spring. They don't make insurance policies for that.

Didn't they say that next year's class wouldn't have to worry about it?

I could be wrong, just thought I heard that from a credible source.

Either way, would that insurance policy cover how much he'd get if he were drafted in the top 15?

Beanie doesn't have to declare for draft this year in order to get paid:

Until I hear the man say it himself I can only think he's gone and honestly if Ohio State had won 1 of the 2 previous NC games I'd wonder if, for his sake, sitting out this game so there is no chance of a Willis McGahee type injury occurring.....

Regardless of what the man is saying, I'll be shocked if he and his mighty beard are back in C-bus next fall.

same here.

However I'll give you one reason he may want to come back.

In Bill Cromartie's book about The Game, The Big One, he lists Paul Warfield as the only player in OSU history to score a TD in 3 different games against scUM. That book was current up until 1978.

I reasearched from 78 on as best I could and if his statement was correct Beanie is the only player since to have scored 3 td's in 3 games vs scUM (this doesn't include passing for, only rushing or receiving).

So Beanie could come back and be the only player in the history of The Game to score a TD in 4 seperate editions.

I don't know if I agree about the sitting out thing, but I agree about thinking he's gone. I've already figured that I'm just going to have to resign myself to a Beanieless Buckeyes next year, and look forward to Boom, and some of the Young 'uns coming on board. That being said he comes back, I may need to depends b/c I will pee and/or crap my pants right on the spot of hearing that announcement. Whether it's the final game or not, I want to see Beanie stiff Arm himself some Longhorn arse, just for shits and giggles.

I think he's gone too but He really glows when he talks about coming back to Columbus as a possibility. It's obvious he wants to stay another year IMO, but it going pro may end up being his smartest choice so thats why I see him go.

I don't think he wants to go pro, but he will to help his family etc.
