RB Daniel "Boom" Herron (Official Thread)

I second that. And on the posters on the Michigan board...the same guy said that the staff really didn't want Saine and now apparently Clifford wasn't that important to them either. Of course since Herron will probably pick OSU, scUM must not have wanted him. Anyone seeing a trend here?

IMO, when fans start saying stuff like, "well we didnt really want him anyways" - its a clear indication that they are starting to lose hope that they will land the prospect. It may be the truth that they want Clifford more, but you cant honosetly say that having 'Boom' in your backfield (no matter the depth) wont help your team. I really like this kid and if we land him (which Im thinking we have a 65-75% shot at) OSUs backfield will be loaded with talent next year:

2007 OSU RB Roster (this would look GREAT to me):
-Antonio Pittman, Senior
-Mo Wells, Junior
-'Beanie Wells', Soph
-'Boom' Herron, Frosh
-Brandon Saine, Frosh
-Aram Olson, RedFrosh
-Dionte Johnson, Senior

Man...this would really rock if we can land Boom.

I am all for the notion that you take as much talent as you can in that particular year, but at what point does the depth chart really start to steer a kid like Darius Ashley away?

Pittman is gone by the time Ashley comes aboard, and Saine and Mo Wells aren't sure things to play as full-time RB's. I think the depth chart looks more favorable for Ashley with possibly only Beanie and Boom ahead of him...

Boom will be a great addition to this class...

Fall 08' TB Depth Chart

Maurice Wells - Senior
Chris Wells - Junior
Danny Herron - RS Frosh

(With the assumption that Saine will be moved to the slot)

That's not too unappealing for a kid who wants to compete.

Edit: 22 beat me to it.

Plus Ashley is a pretty big OSU lean regardless. I'm not too worried about him being scared off by depth. Herron is strong, durable back. I really like Ashley's ability to catch the ball and make plays on 3rd down, which would be an ideal role for him coming in, so I wouldn't worry about it much.

Boom Herron, a four-star running back from Harding High School in Warren, Ohio, said he plans to commit this weekend. "I'll probably announce my decision at school. I want to get it out of the way and get ready for the season. It will come down to Ohio State (offer) or Michigan (offer)," Herron said. Herron, who is slightly shorter than 5-10, previously has shown interest in Minnesota (offer), Miami, Penn State and Notre Dame.

Herron bench presses 355, squats 550 and vertically jumps 37 inches.

My Take

Plans to commit to the coaches this weekend at Ohio State

Will announce his decision at Warren Harding later

If he is at Michigan this weekend then obviously that scenerio changes..

Boom was at tOSU on Thursday to meet with the coaches. If he takes his trip to Michigan, it would be next week.
