RB John Clay (official thread)

sooo... what about Chris Wells?
I believe his point was that Wisky was seen as offering more immediate PT than OSU... however with the breakout season for frosh PJ Hill, that may have changed (even moreso if Pittman were to go pro).

John says he talks to Coach Doc Tressel once per week and lists his favorites as tOSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Nebraska (in no order). He is not concerned about tOSU's other RB commitments as they all have different styles and tOSU's offense has plenty of running opportunities.

Wisconsin is in a worse position (IMO) with freshman PJ Hill becoming a star.

Benini, thoughts?

If I was Clay, Iowa would be the best in terms of early PT...if, and that's a big if, that is very important to him...

Clay just named Wisconsin and OSU as his top 2. It looks depth charts don't worry a young man of his prowess.

10/25: Clay keeps them guessing
Category: General Posted by: Gery

By Gery Woelfel

Squelching two rumors that have spread like wildfire on the Internet: RUMOR NO. 1: Johnny Clay, Park High School's terrific running back, has made a verbal commitment to the University of Wisconsin. This rumor has been smoldering for two weeks now. Even Clay himself has heard the chatter.
"Yeah, I've heard that,'' Clay said. "But, no, I haven't done that. I didn't commit to nobody."
Clay reiterated his five choices remain, in no particular order, Ohio State, Nebraska, Tennessee, Iowa and Wisconsin. Clay also acknowledged he hasn't finalized any official visits to those schools and that he might not publicly declare his choice of a college until Jan. 6 during a prep all-star football game in San Antonio.

If he were to come here our depth would just be ridiculous. Saine is already likely to play quite a bit of WR but if we have both Herron and Clay coming, I would imagine that is all he plays. Think of the future with Beanie, Clay, MoWells, Herron, and a bit of Saine...scary good. Add that on top of serious interest from Womble and Ashley early on and your talking about Runningback "U".

Well, I was thinking the same thing before this year, but unfortunately guys transfer, and sometimes they don't pan out or get hurt. If Clay comes here, there is almost as good a chance he plays LB as there is he plays RB.
Either way, though, we would be lucky to get him and glad to have him!
