RB Jordan Hall (Official Thread)

I'll bet he plays 30-50 snaps.

When they did that with Nate he ended up being really sore after week 1. I'd hope it's not that much because that'd mean we're in a dog fight. 15 plays sounds like a good launching point to his season. Next week increased to 25 and then MSU gets the full game.

While I agree with you, where is the benefit in playing Hall 50 snaps if we're up by 30? Mind you, if it's a close game and he feels good...by all means, I say play him. But for now, why not give him 15-25 snaps, let him get loose and let Dunn/Smith get some carries/experience going forward? I don't expect Cal to put up too much of a fight.

I was surprised Hall played as much
I assume this was Meyers scheme to knock large amts of rust off... in one game
Wouldn't be surprised if it works...

There were times you saw "Jordan Hall" today and had to smile.. you know it's in there...

Rusty rusher: Hall returns, ready to improve
September, 15, 2012
By Austin Ward | ESPN.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The projected starter was healthy enough to play, and Ohio State gave him his job right back.

The coaching staff never even turned to a backup after that first snap, either, rolling with Jordan Hall in his first game back from start to finish.

The senior wasn't perfect in his return from surgery to repair a torn tendon in his foot in June, and at times he looked unsure of where to go with the football in his hands. But he was effective enough in a 35-28 win over California that the Buckeyes gave him every rushing attempt that went to a tailback after a week of uncertainty at the position.

"There was certainly, I don’t want to say rust, but some issues with Jordan seeing where plays should go," offensive coordinator Tom Herman said. "But at the same time, he hadn’t played a whole lot of football since spring practice. That’s to be expected, and I’m sure he’ll come out and play better."

Ohio State football: Jordan Hall just fine with workload
Filed by Associated Press September 17th, 2012 in Sports.

COLUMBUS ? Any thought that Ohio State would slowly ease injured running back Jordan Hall back into action was quickly erased when he trotted onto the field as a starter in the Buckeyes? 35-28 win over California on Saturday.

Hall rushed for 87 yards on 17 carries in his first appearance since having surgery to repair a torn tendon in his foot in late June. He suffered that injury when he stepped on broken glass in his yard.

He said the foot felt fine, though he admitted he still has some rust to scrape off his game after several weeks of inactivity.

?Coach (Urban) Meyer asked me how I felt and I said I felt good,? Hall said. ?I was a little rusty. There were some runs where if I had a little better footing and a little more confidence I could have come out on the other side (of the defense).

?It took a little while adjusting to the speed of the game. But next week I think I?ll be all right.?

Hall's return buoys run game
Back should expect to take on more load than his 17 carries against California
Updated: September 20, 2012
By Austin Ward | BuckeyeNation

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- There's a bit of fluctuation in the number that has been tossed around in the meeting rooms.

Considering there's no exact formula to figure out how many yards Jordan Hall could have, or perhaps should have, piled up in his return from offseason foot surgery, that's not really surprising.

Jordan Hall was impressive in his season debut last weekend and could take some of the rushing load off Braxton Miller's shoulders.

Whether the total comes in on the low side at around 50, or as high as the 70 his coach remembered, the Ohio State running back certainly saw plenty of yardage left on the field when he watched it on film. But Hall's process for determining how much wasn't exactly scientific -- the senior simply tried to count how far away the end zone was when he couldn't quite take advantage of holes his blockers opened up or the clear paths to touchdowns ahead of him when he went down.

"There was a few times where I slipped on one of my linemen's feet," Hall said. "A couple times where I let one guy tackle me. I really tried to focus on that this week so that don't happen again.

"On the runs when I tripped on the linemen, there was nobody else there."

Century club: Hall back in big way
September, 22, 2012
By Austin Ward | ESPN.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The statistics sheet was on the table in front of him, and the rushing totals were helpfully pointed out to Jordan Hall.

In his second game from injury, the senior tailback established a career high, continued taking the load off quarterback Braxton Miller's shoulders and added a couple receptions to boot.

But even just an hour after Ohio State's 29-15 win over UAB was official and Hall's personal record book had been updated with his 105-yard game, he was already moving on to the next one.

"It's 100 yards for the night, then go back to work tomorrow," Hall said. "I mean, I?m happy about it. But Michigan State, that?s really what my focus is."
