I've always thought that was the secret to the long returns. When the defender is standing still or running south; it is harder to tackle a runner going north at full speed than one stopped trying to dance around you.

There's just something about the offense when Smith is in the game... Atleast I automatically perk up and think "here we go" when I see #2 standing back there.

He may be one of if not the most physically imposing back in the big ten maybe even the nation. Just has to continue to work on securing the ball and he's going to have a very nice final two years here.

Carlos seems more consistent, while Rod seems like more of a game breaker. It seems like the light might be coming on for Rod, based on the positive comments we've heard from the coaching staff and the on field production we've seen in his limited time.

Coach Meyer has expressed the absence of home run threats on offense, and Rod might be that guy if he keeps improving and earning more trust.
