i dont ask for this often but can one of the bball admins nuke or move this thread to the ref locker. the title and content are against the athletic dept.

i realize that blah blah blah, but for purposes of not confusing fans who may choose to actually participate in the "white out" that they will not potentially be confused by a counter call the "red out" state

Right. one group calling for a "red out" another for a "white out". We're going to end up with half in red and half in white, which is what we would have gotten anyways.

Why must we always complain when we are asked to wear a color to a game?

Why red out Penn State in football?

Why white out MSU in basketball?

Every other school does this with no complaints, and yet here we are complaining that Thad Matta wants us to all wear white. GROW UP!!!!

PLUS, ESPN Gameday has already planned a segment I heard to feed off of the white out at the game. so please, just wear white!!!!!
that's why

I plan on wearing white because a show of solidarity by the fans can only be a good thing and help the team, although the white out is pretty cliche at this point, and it'd be nice to see more original ideas to improve the crowd at games. One thing I've wondered (for football as well as basketball) is why OSU doesnt have one or two large consolidated student sections?

One of our "official" colors or not, everyone should do it since the team is asking for our support this way. They can't get the students to create a loud enough student section and they can't get all of the old rich people to cheer along the sidelines, so if this is what they can actually make happen, we should support it. If nothing else it makes us look good on TV. They spent a lot of money on it too...I got a real nice embossed card in the mail asking me to wear white this weekend as a season ticket holder...which I thought was fairly unprecedented a method of getting the word out about a crowd promotion for one game...

I think it's great. The football program doesn't really need something like this to create atmosphere, but the basketball program is a fair weather thing for many, if not most, tOSU fans. Something like this could possibly open the eyes of people a little bit, and let them know how much a team can feed off of an atmosphere like this.
