Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

Well I don't even feel disappointed today. I guess I'm going numb over this whole season already, what a bummer. I knew Maddux would destroy us last night so I didnt even watch. Probably the same tonight with Wells but I have a feeling if Narron leaves the lefties in tonight we might touch him up a bit. If he plays the zombies we have out there it might be Wells second perfect game. :shake: The way we're going right now Peavy could break the strikeout record tomorrow or we could score 15 runs........and lose!

Still waiting on the gas money donations.:wink2:

The Reds just keep finding ways to lose/give up leads...

Harang has thrown a gem so far, but he slips in the middle of his delievery and the guy on third gets the free base from the balk and he scores...

The baseball gods really hate us at this point...Lets hope that we can get a run in the top of the ninth, b/c I don't trust the bullpen if they have to come in...

BTW one thing that most of know, but Hamilton still needs work on his baserunning...Both times in the 5th and 8th when he got thrown out at 3rd on the sac bunt, he should of been off the base more and that was a good enough bunt to get him to third, then on the that diving stop by Green and the force play at second where I am still not sure if he wasnt safe, but if he would of had a secondary lead just two steps bigger he makes it to second with ease...

First things first.. Ken Griffey Jr. is not done people. If he were on a team that had pennant hopes he might be chasing Bonds for Aarons HR title. Thats no bullshit. The sweetest swing in baseball is rejuvinated at this point and Cincinnati Reds management is wasting it. Thats one of the crimes of this century.

Aaron Harang, God bless you. David Wells threw a great game and you battled every at bat, the way a #1 is supposed to do. Fucking Narron I've got a twilight scope with your name on it! Let em play jackass! They get paid to hit left handed pitching or any other pitcher that comes up there. Leave em in the game from day to day and see what we have. When your starter goes 9 innings the bullpen has to do their job. Great showing David Weathers. We've been riding the bullpen its time to give credit where credit is due. Thats the way you earn your paycheck!

Backs against the wall Redlegs, who has the balls to win anyway.

I want to give up hope, but its not in me. I know its not in any poster in this thread either. C'mon Reds lets start getting it done damnit!:pissed:

Now do the the Reds build on this win or is it a fluke? Jake Peavy is a great pitcher and we'll need our A game tomorrow. If we get this game we may have something brewing. If not, and if Narron is still the coach by the homestand, boycott people!!!! We have veterans giving their all and we are still getting smoked? Something aint stirring the kool aid. There's no joy in Mudville and we all know who's stolen it!

I no longer believe any of this "it's not time to panic" bullshit they have been trotting out the last few days. Clearly, they have panicked. Weathers went 3 innings last night? That's ridiculous. I understand he wanted to go as long as needed, but c'mon. I'm happy they got a W, but this just shows the state of affairs on this team. To say that they were in full blown panic mode last night would be an understatement.

The Harang balk... unFUCKINGbelievable! I was sure they were toast after that. I dozed off and woke up in time to hear the final on Reds Live and that Jr had hit the game winner. Good for him, I hope he stays healthy and has a few more productive years. I don't think he can ever catch Bonds, but would be nice to see him flirt with 700 (here or elsewhere).

As for Narron's job security, I think he's safe for now. I'd be surprised to see a move at this point. I honestly don't know who they'd get anyways. I'd love to see Tom Kelly if he'd consider a comeback. You know Bob C would love to steal Dave Duncan away from St. Louie, but I don't think he wants to manage. Any chance they could talk "Donnie Baseball" into coming a little closer to home, or is he just biding time waiting for Torre to move on?

You guys make some good points but you know what, it has to start somewhere. The Reds have found a way to squander away quite a few games in their current 3-7 streak. However, sometimes teams just get in a rut and it was probably a great thing that we had Harang pitching with a little more incentive last night (being in his home town). Maybe this is what they needed, a win where they overcame some bad luck and a win in extra innings no less.

Plus, I see Weather's performance as a big plus. When I saw the box this morning I was in disbelief that he lasted that long and didn't give up any runs. Whether or not it was a bad choice, it will hopefully give Weathers, the bullpen, and the team some confidence. As of late this hasn't looked like a team that was capable of winning a close game (especially one on the road in extra innings). While I don't expect them to go on a 10-0 tear, I do think this is a good first step if they are going to get back on track.

It was great to see us finally win again, but I am staying on the side of caution until they show me that they are goign to string together some wins...

Yeah, one win doesn't mean much in this pathetic start to a season. Maybe once we get some guys off the DL we can make it look respectable but I would say the playoffs are out of the picture.
